This role is responsible for leadership of the corporate security and resilience agenda across the Asia-Pacific region. Impact of the Role

  • The post-holder owns and drives the program to manage a wide range of risks in a way that protects our people, assets and operations whilst also enabling and accelerating the business’s growth ambitions, and has strategic impact and exposure within the APAC region.
  • The post-holder will shape the Regional President and team’s understanding of the risk landscape, impart guidance on risk management strategies, and provide insight and foresight to support the navigation of complex risks and business decisions. They will provide leadership on all security and resilience matters and proactively partner with Market leadership in the region to create and manage risk management strategies that support their ambitions.
  • As the coordinator of the APAC Crisis Management Team (CMT), the post-holder will have significant impact on the business during major issues and crises. They will provide proactive leadership, direction, and coordination for the regional team and for the market teams across the region to protect the business and help it emerge stronger from a wide range of potential challenges.
  • The role requires excellent relationship skills, including at a senior level. The post-holder will work directly with stakeholders including the Regional President. They will also partner widely and closely with Market leadership across the region, building alignment, leading and influencing, and supporting business units to effectively manage risk and achieve our performance ambition.
  • The post-holder will be responsible for the coordination, support and development of a group of security and crisis coordinators, who hold responsibility for the delivery of security and resilience programs in their respective markets across the region.
  • The post-holder will develop and enhance strategic relationships with external partner organisations, including government agencies and law enforcement, industry, and academia, within the region.
General Responsibilities
  • Set the security and resilience strategy and priorities for the region, communicating effectively to key stakeholders, and monitor on-going performance and achievement against this strategy. Differentiate between security risks that can be accepted and those that need to be mitigated; prioritise those that need to be mitigated by business impact.
  • The post-holder will be a senior member of the global Corporate Security Leadership team; they will proactively contribute to the strategic direction and operation of the function. They will support and lead on global projects and programs on a case-by-case basis.
  • Security management - Leadership and oversight of people and physical security programs within the region; ensuring compliance with global policies and relevant regulatory requirements. Co-ordinating, planning, and directing activities relating to the protection of physical company assets, employees, and events.
  • Crisis Management & Business Continuity - Coordinator for the APAC Crisis Management Team; provide advice, support and training to the CMT on crisis management, including preparing and delivering realistic crisis exercises addressing top business risks, and coordinating follow-up developmental work. Ensure APAC markets are prepared for crisis, driving preparatory activities, and influencing stakeholders to invest appropriately in crisis programs. Support/lead market crisis exercises. Support Markets in the delivery and testing of effective business continuity programs to ensure they are prepared to minimize disruption and resume businesses.
  • Investigations - Play a leading role in investigations management within the region. Conduct internal code of conduct and security investigations to a high standard. Collaborate with global investigations team and Business Integrity to provide support to APAC markets in enhancing local investigations capability; provide training and mentoring.
  • Financial - The post-holder will shape how we secure the operational and financial performance in markets with challenging risk dynamics in the region. They will contribute to Diageo’s financial performance through 1) Effective crisis and business continuity programs enabling business performance and limiting disruption and subsequent financial impact; 2) Effective security programs supporting commercial activities in high-risk areas, driving competitive advantage; 3) Prevention of costly incidents; contributing to the lowering of insurance premiums; 4) Loss prevention programs limiting theft of Diageo product.

  • Strategy and business alignment - Ensure the APAC security and resilience strategy and priorities are closely aligned with the APAC business plans and ambition; control risks in a way that enables growth, as well as addressing the dynamically changing external risk environment.
  • High-quality programs - Drive and embed quality risk management programs, focusing on priority risks and markets, such as China. Proactive oversight of market programs to ensure global standards are met and risks appropriately managed.
  • Enhance business preparedness - Enhance the resilience and preparedness of the APAC and market teams, so they are able to thrive in crisis and emerge stronger.
  • Support to investigations - Enhance investigative capacity and capability within the region.
Leadership Dimension & Stakeholders
  • The post-holder will provide proactive leadership of this agenda with the Regional President and team members, and senior stakeholders across the region.
  • S/he will provide leadership and coordination to the security and crisis coordinators based in each market.
  • S/he will also be expected to lead matrixed teams of colleagues from across multiple departments on various issues; influencing senior colleagues to achieve required outcomes.
  • Being member of the Corporate Security Leadership Team, providing broader leadership to the global security function.
Desired Qualifications
  • Senior risk management professional with extensive experience (at least 12 years) across all pillars (Security, Investigations, Business Continuity and Crisis Management).
  • Experience of leading cross-functional teams and security operations in a multi-jurisdictional matrixed corporate environment and proven ability to navigate changing and ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. Extensive demonstrable experience of senior level engagement, including at Executive level.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, ability to align functional priorities to overall business objectives and needs.
  • Strong organisational skills, excellent analytical and drafting skills; vision and ability to create and communicate strategy.
  • Exemplary professionalism, commitment and integrity, passion for and experience of inspiring and leading and developing people.
  • Professional qualifications, such as CPP and MBCI, preferred.
