About the Role
As the Head of Trade Compliance, one is expected to assume the role of formulating and spearheading the Trade Compliance and Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) strategy throughout the entirety of the Group\'s global activities. Additionally, they will exercise supervision over the Group\'s trade compliance responsibilities. As the primary advocate for quality, health and safety, environmental standards, and trade compliance, the individual will be tasked to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices across the entire Group. Moreover, effective utilization of change management techniques will be employed to enhance performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to statutory requirements within the Aviation industry.
  • Lead and foster engagement throughout the Group by establishing a comprehensive compliance framework aligned with industry standards.
  • Develop key performance indicators and metrics to facilitate the achievement of continuous improvement objectives.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator for all internal and external audit programs, prioritizing the resolution of non-conformances or breaches with utmost urgency.
  • Conduct thorough background checks on clients while upholding the Group\'s professional credibility.
  • Exercise oversight of regulatory filings to government authorities, licensing requirements, certifications, compliance with import and export regulations, sanctions, embargoes, and other relevant considerations.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Solutions team to provide regulatory framework-based solutions, supporting clients in matters of customs compliance.
  • Promote and instill a culture of continuous improvement among the Group\'s employees, ensuring they receive adequate training to develop relevant skills.
  • Identify potential areas for process improvements and secure buy-in from the management team.
  • Ensure ISO accreditation is maintained across the Group.
  • Conduct audits and manage compliance and risk related to health and safety.
  • Champion the sustainability and environmental program, developing action plans to minimize the impact on sustainability resulting from office and transportation activities.
  • Deliver training sessions to employees on matters of regulatory compliance when necessary.
  • Advocate for a shared safety, compliance, and sustainability vision and culture among all stakeholders, encouraging active participation in continuous improvement initiatives that yield positive outcomes.
Job Requirements
  • Desired as a subject matter expert in trade compliance for a global service business
  • Preferred industry knowledge in aviation/aerospace and logistics
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to develop high-performing teams globally
  • Technical proficiency in AEO, Union Customs Code, and Industry Standards like ISO 9001/9120
  • Highly organized with forward-planning ability for timely program and project delivery
  • Strong skills in building relationships and fostering partnerships across multiple stakeholders, especially managing relationships at senior management and board levels
  • Excellent communication skills to confidently engage and influence clients, partners, third parties, and employees
  • Proficient in IT, including the Microsoft Office suite, for presentations, data analysis, and reporting
  • Background in a compliance-led environment, utilizing problem-solving skills and adhering to policy for optimal business decisions
  • Strategic thinking, organizational proficiency, team-building, and representational skills
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop technical capability in regional team members
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required
