Role Description

The APAC Ignite Practice has reached a critical point in its growth, where it is becoming essential to have a resource that can be strategically engaged, regardless of whether the customer is in Mumbai, Singapore or Sydney. We're looking for someone to join our Ignite team who, through customer-facing work, can build Ignite's reputation and capability across the region.

As the APAC Strategic Innovation Director, you will:

  • Earn the trust of our customers' senior executives across APAC as a partner in the realisation of their most strategic goals
  • Combine empathy, creative instinct and business savvy to identify opportunities for our customers to create value for their business and its stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of researchers, designers, and technologists to design and conduct bespoke innovation engagements that benefit the customer, Salesforce, and Ignite
  • Champion a human-centered, entrepreneurial approach to strategic enterprise transformation with our customers, partners and Salesforce account teams.
  • Develop original frameworks, concepts, and visions to design and shape critical conversations with customers.
  • Create and deliver compelling value narratives that capture insight and inspire executive-level audiences
  • Facilitate complex work sessions for C-suite executives, key decision-makers and cross-functional teams to understand their needs and ambitions, and/or to articulate a role for Salesforce in the future of their businesses
  • Monitor and share emergent, disruptive trends in strategy, technology, and business
  • Build strong relationships with diverse internal stakeholders to bring the full Salesforce ecosystem together for maximum customer success, creating enduring relationships that advance personal and Ignite success
  • Facilitate technology and process prioritisation and roadmapping, to ensure deals and implementations remain faithful to core strategic insights and decisions
  • Help sense for, qualify and prioritise Ignite opportunities across the region
  • Advance the Ignite practice, helping to lead capability-building and practice initiatives
  • Share your knowledge and mentor other strategists in the team
  • Build relationships with the global community of Ignite Strategists
Experience and Skills

We're looking for someone who has:
  • 12+ years of experience in innovation consulting or entrepreneurial work
  • A successful track record of engaging senior executives and leading cross-functional teams
  • Strong cultural competence and experience across Australian, Asian and Indian contexts
  • Passionate curiosity regarding emerging trends in innovation, business strategy, and the challenges of transforming large enterprises, and enthusiasm for using the design process to make businesses more effective, relevant and successful.
  • Experience building appetite and momentum for human-centred innovation processes either within or for large, complex enterprises
  • Strong business acumen with knowledge of strategy, business model design, design thinking, and innovation processes
  • Exemplary verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, plus strong facilitation skills with an ability to balance conversation in mixed groups and manage political dynamics
  • Experience translating human-centred research into actionable innovation opportunities that have outsized and unexpected value for customers
  • An understanding of how enterprise business process and technology transformations are funded and operationalised
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity, and helping other team members through it
  • Experience nurturing a culture of critique and iteration
  • Entrepreneurial bias for action with an ability to solve problems with limited resources and input
  • Empathetic and flexible in communication and work styles depending on context
  • Self-motivated, a good communicator, and able to balance quality deliverables with tight deadlines.
Additional desirable experience and qualifications
  • An advanced degree in a relevant field, e.g. business, strategy, innovation, etc.
  • Experience championing design practices or mindsets in public, through teaching, publishing, speaking etc
  • Agile and/or lean experience ideally in Large Enterprise context
  • Experience working with major brands and innovators in ANZ and Asia Pacific

  • Location
This role will report to the Ignite ANZ Practice Leader, based in Sydney, but as an APAC Role, will also be expected to travel regularly to Singapore and India, with less frequent visits to other Salesforce offices, eg San Francisco.

Salesforce is office-flexible -- meaning employees can work at home, in the office, at a customer site, or wherever else is needed to drive customer success. This allows us some flexibility on location, within reasonable timezone constraints.
