Objectives and Responsibilities of the InfrastructurePlanning & Deployment Project ManagerThe Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Project Manager's primarily responsible for theplanning, procurement and project management of the Company's global network infrastructure.They will handle all aspects of capacity planning, vendor selection, procurement, deploymentand hardware maintenance of all network assets in the network. They will work with the salesteam & Head of Operations to ensure they have a detailed understanding of the businessescurrent and future network needs and ensure they are met in a efficient and timely fashion. Theywill be expected to have a detailed understanding of all network related activities that areunderway at any point in time and will report to the Head of Operations.Headline Responsibilities. Procurement & negotiation of supply costs. Asset auditing and deployment trails. Involvement in centralized monitoring. Project management. Capacity planning. Vendor selection (hardware and network partner)DutiesCapacity PlanningMonitoring of PoP usage and liaise with sales teams and senior management to ensure thatnetwork capacity is grown in a fast and efficient way to achieve the business' growth ambitions.This will involve liaising with vendors on hardware platforms, network connectivity and rackavailability and specifications in region. Whilst the commercial team will handle the formalcommercial contracts with the connectivity suppliers, this role will be responsible for negotiatingthe pricing to levels which match the overall business objectives.Record DataPart of an Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Manager's job is making sure that all relevantdata is properly collected and stored. This will include performance metrics, service levels,server status and both planned and unplanned system outages. The Infrastructure Planning &Deployment Project Manager will need to deliver the data they've collected to higher-levelemployees on a regular daily, weekly or monthly basis.Implement Processes and ProceduresWhenever a new process or procedure is further-improved and approved by higher-levelemployees, the Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Project Manager needs to execute thenew process and procedure.SkillsAttention to DetailWhen the security and functionality of an entire IT infrastructure is on the line, you can't afford toignore the little things. Thus, the Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Project Manager needsto have a highly focused attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.Extensive Technical KnowledgeThe Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Project Manager needs to be intimately familiar withtechnologies such as Linux & TCP/IP as well as a good appreciation of cloud basedtechnologies. They will also need to have experience with telecom networks, firewalls, routersand more.Management SkillsUnlike many other IT professionals, it's essential for the Infrastructure Planning & DeploymentProject Manager to have excellent people skills in order to effectively communicate with internalstakeholder and suppliers.Communication SkillsStellar communication skills are necessary for the Infrastructure Planning & Deployment ProjectManager to strategize, plan and collaborate with both higher- and lower-level colleagues.Educational RequirementsAn Infrastructure Planning & Deployment Project Manager is required to have a bachelor'sdegree in computer science, computer engineering or a related field, preference is given tocandidates who have a master's degree in a technological field as well, having at least 5 years ofexperience as an IT Engineer in addition to at least five years of management experience.
