About the Team:
In September 2021, ByteDance aquired Pico, a leading VR company with independent innovation and R&D capabilities. The company has its primary market share in China but in May 2022, Pico released its first international consumer product, Pico Neo 3, an all-in-one VR headset that offers immersive and interactive experiences. Pico also serves international business customers with all-in-one industry solutions in a variety of fields, including education and healthcare.
The ByteDance Global Communications team manages PR and communications across all markets. Our team manages global communications for emerging products and works with our regional colleagues to execute the strategies we develop.
About the Role:
Global Communications has an opportunity for an International Media Relations Manager to lead Pico's media relations efforts outside of China and drive the overall international media relations strategy for the brand. This person will work with the local Global Communications teams and PR agencies to manage all media requests and develop effective media strategies for product launches and other proactive initiatives. They would also work closely with the Pico product team to develop these strategies and ensure Pico's key messaging and positioning is effectively communicated in the company's key markets. This position will be based in Singapore (but other EU locations will be considered).
Job Responsibilities
1. Manage media relations for Pico in international markets, working with local teams and relevant PR agencies
2. Develop overall media relations strategies for product launches and other proactive initiatives
3. Manage inbound media requests related to Pico
4. Establish and maintain strong relations with reporters covering Pico and the VR space
5. Align Pico's media relations strategy with other external messaging, including social media and attendance at trade shows and conferences
6. Establish a close and ongoing relationship with the Pico product team and establish a deep understanding of the brand's products to effectively develop messaging, positioning and an overall approach to international markets
1. 7+ years of experience in communications, with a specific strength in media relations
2. Deep experience in product hardware PR as well as a strong understanding of the consumer electronics product market; experience in product hardware media relations strongly encouraged
3. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with the media in markets across the world
4. Ability to work with colleagues in different markets and across time zones, excellent problem-solving skills; self-motivated, with strong analytical thinking
5. Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and adapting quickly to change; experience managing media relations for global product launches a plus
6. Bachelor's degree or above in related field
