Job Description

Pylon City is seeking an Embedded Systems (Internet of Things) Engineer to join our growing team. This person should be an innovative and versatile software engineer with a track record of building IoT systems from ground up, and has a strong background in working with embedded devices. Their experience should include API development, coding on IoT devices, and good familiarity with UNIX/Linux-based environments.

Pylon City develops and maintains a network of charging stations, known as Pylons, that are used to power electrical transportation. The Pylons are connected to the Pylon Cloud via our core APIs, and are powered by renewable energy sources. This role is a unique opportunity to prototype and build systems that run on Single Board Computers and Microcontrollers integrated with our core APIs. **Only Singaporeans or PRs may apply**

Technical Skills

• Computer Science / Engineering, or Electrical Engineer degree
• Strong experience in at least 2 programming languages (preferably in C/C++, NodeJS and/or PHP)
• Extensive knowledge with Bash and other shell scripting languages
• Familiarity with the Linux kernel
• Comfortable configuring UNIX/Linux-based environment
• Experience in developing and integrating with RESTful APIs
• Familiar with full-stack development (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, Express/Laravel, Angular/React)
• Experience with NoSQL and relational databases
• Good technical communication skills

Bonus (good-to- have)

• Familiar with cloud deployment via Google Cloud Console
• Experience with Firebase, Google Apps Engine, and Containers Engine
• Skilled in test driven design, and is familiar with test frameworks such as Mocha
• Built projects with the Raspberry Pi and/or Arduino
• Familiar with industrial design tools (e.g. Autocad, Solidworks)
