Job Purpose

An IT Professional is required in the School of Computing to manage and maintain IT infrastructure operations, especially in areas of networking, as well as server and storage administration.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, manage and maintain the School\xe2\x80\x99s IT infrastructure, especially in network, storage, servers, and IT security.
• Manage day-to-day operations and ensure high availability of the School\xe2\x80\x99s network, servers and related services, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless systems, VPN, load balancer, Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, VMware, TrueNAS, compute clusters, etc.
• Troubleshoot and resolve IT infrastructure issues, faults, incidents, etc.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support to front-line technical support team.
• Assist in the operations and management of computer room facilities (UPS, CRAC, power distribution, etc).
• Ensure proper IT security implementation and protection of services with sound IT security policies and principles in access control, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment system, etc.
• Assist in developing new technical applications and services, and maintain existing ones.
• Ensure proper documentation of work.

Job Requirements

• Tertiary degree holders with Computer Science/Engineering, or relevant specialisation, with or without experience, are welcome to apply.
• Minimum 1 to 3 years of relevant working experience preferred.
• Must be adaptive, pro-active, self-motivated with positive work attitude, able to work independently or collaboratively in teams.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
• Has strong interest in computer networking and operating systems technologies, passionate about learning technical details, innovative, and enjoys experimenting in the following areas:

• Operating systems and file systems (Linux, Solaris, NFS, Windows, etc)
• Network infrastructure (firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, etc)
• Network services (DNS, DHCP, web, etc)
• Opensource technologies, and in particular, Apache, MySQL, etc
• Programming in Perl, bash, and C
• Relevant certifications, such as CCNA and CISSP, will be an advantage.
