Job Description


Role Scope:

  • To undertake risk-based client due diligence in accordance with MBCL's Know-Your-Customer (KYC) policies and procedures (training will be provided), including but not limited to new client on-boarding for Asia Pacific clients, periodic review of existing clients and monitoring of client screening alerts;
  • Perform routine compliance monitoring function on timely basis with focus on mandarin conversation;
  • Assisting Singapore Compliance Manager in Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) administration and regulatory reporting matters; and
  • Execute relevant compliance task assigned by Singapore Compliance Manager or London KYC Manager.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities: To at all times adhere to the Individual Conduct Rules and the Company Values as outlined in the .
  • Reviewing documentations and information received from front office for new clients and periodic review of existing client files for Customer Due Diligence (CDD) & Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) according to relevant Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rules/regulations and internal KYC procedures. Ensure all evidence is recorded as per procedures.
  • Liaise with front office staff to establish and update account opening priorities and continuity of prospective pipelines as well as periodic review for existing clients.
  • Work and maintain good communication with members of the Global KYC team to identify where it would be appropriate to update KYC records. Obtain such updated information and to upload into MBCL systems.
  • Monitor client alerts generated by MBCL's screening provider to determine if client reviews are required in timely manner. Escalate concerns relating to screening alerts in line with KYC procedure.
  • Highlight any concerns relating to KYC processes to Compliance so they can be integrated appropriately into the Compliance risk assessments and monitoring program.
  • Work closely with members of the Compliance team (and other relevant departments) to ensure effective coordination of workflow.
  • Assist in monitoring of communications monitoring, particularly by providing coverage of Mandarin communications. Follow monitoring procedures and escalate concerns in line with policy.
  • Provide support, as required, to global and local Compliance team on matters relating to the Singapore office.
  • Provide support for administrative submission for regulatory requirement (i.e. MAS submission of surveys, reports) and ensure submissions are done in line with the deadline.
  • Keep up to date on MAS regulatory updates in order to assist Singapore Compliance Manager in preparing first draft for review of relevant policies and procedures or suggest for improvement to the current processes.
  • Assist in enrolling relevant training to all staff in Singapore office and monitor the completion of such training within the deadline.

Person Specification:
  • Corporate KYC experience including EDD involving PEPs in corporate structures preferred.
  • Knowledge of Financial Crime rules and guidance in respect of CDD and EDD requirements, including but not limited to JMLSG, FATF & FCA.
  • Familiarity with KYC/AML due diligence and data gathering tools commonly used in the marketplace.
  • Fluent Mandarin and English speaker.
