Job Description


Responsibilities

  • Offer strategic legal guidance to senior mangement and various business divisions, covering diverse legal and regulatory areas, including insurance law, corporate governance, intellectual property, data security, and litigation concerns etc.
  • Examine, compose, and bargain a wide array of agreements and legal documents, spanning insurance contracts, distribution pacts, service agreements, and employment contracts.
  • Manage conflicts, e.g. insurance claims, data security incidents, vendor disputes, and employment disagreements.
  • Ensure adherence to legal frameworks and regulations, keeping abreast of industry developments and monitoring updates from relevant governing bodies.
  • Lead corporate compliance initiatives and promote a culture of adherence within the organization.
  • Assess internal workflows, create compliance policies, and engage with regulatory bodies when necessary.
  • Oversee the Anti-Money Laundering/Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT) framework, aligning it with the stipulated requirements of relevant authorities.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance training programs, enhancing employees\' grasp of internal policies and legal/regulatory obligations.
  • Aid with external and internal audit activities, collaborating closely with internal audit teams to execute corrective measures as needed.
Requirements
  • Hold a established law degree, e.g. JD or LLB.
  • Min. 5 years of relevant legal experience (post-education), preferably from an in-house insurance company.
  • Mandatory to have been called to the bar and possess insurance knowledge/experience with exposure to Singapore, and/or Australia markets.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of financial services, insurance brokerage and MAS regulatory frameworks.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation and contract drafting skills
  • Proficiency in English is a must, while knowledge of additional languages is a plus
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively in a team.
  • Proactive and flexible problem solver with strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
