About the role - you will:


Draft and negotiate contracts: The Senior Program/Project Manager role will be based out of our Singapore office, and will report to the Associate General Counsel in Singapore. The person taking on this role will work with a collaborative group of professional legal colleagues and multiple functional clients from our various offices across the Asia Pacific region on a broad range of commercial contracting matters to support our complex, global business. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting, challenging, and often cutting-edge legal issues that require creative and proactive legal advice and client service.
Commercial Contracts:
The Senior Program/Project Manager will be the primary legal support for commercial contracts transactions in Singapore, Malaysia and India, and may be asked to provide contracts related support for other countries in the Asia Pacific region as needed, as well as coordinate with colleagues globally.
  • You will draft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents using Seagate standard templates, work with internal requesters to determine business requirements, recognize non-standard terms and work with relevant internal stakeholders to review and approve contract terms.
  • Contract Management: You will manage contract workflow and the approval processes to ensure that internal stakeholders review and approve contracts according to Seagate policies. You will update the existing contracts database throughout the contract lifecycle, from drafting, amending, renewing, or terminating, through signing and archiving, with the support of an on-site administrative assistant.

Cross-Functional Support:
The Senior Program/Project Manager will provide general administrative support for the legal department, including administrative and clerical work; and may share workload among other contract managers, paralegals, and other support staff to help balance the workload within the department. The position may also work cross-functionally to support other areas of the legal department, such as compliance, dispute resolution, intellectual property, government relations, and labor law; and will help coordinate matters between Seagate attorneys and outside counsel. You will be required to stay abreast of legislative, regulatory and judicial developments that may affect the company. The person filling this role will also have responsibilities in developing and delivering training, supporting audits and other initiatives. In addition, this role may be asked to take on other further duties per the discretion of management.


About you:



  • Understand core legal contracting principles, understand the consequences of contractual language and implications on business transactions.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts.
  • Provide contract advice and direction to business units.
  • Support internal and cross-functional projects. Ability to lead cross-functional teams for resolution of compensation for quality claims.
  • Ability to spot legal issues and make sound recommendations for beneficial business solutions.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization, but usually interacts with buyers, commodity managers, and sales contracts management; attend staff meetings of internal clients.
  • Use good judgement in selecting legal department contract templates and in applying legal policies and procedures to draft and negotiating contracts.
  • Ability to negotiate deal points directly with suppliers, customers, and other counterparties.
  • Ability to identify and propose well-reasoned risk-based decisions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional partnerships, and successfully collaborate across multiple sites with peers to produce results.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills.

Your experience includes:


  • Law degree or equivalent.
  • 5-8 years of post-qualification experience which may include experience working in the corporate legal department for a multinational corporation with an emphasis on contracts management, or comparable experience.
  • Significant experience in commercial contract transactions.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word to draft, redline, and negotiate contracts.
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft Office 365 products.

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a Seagate research and design center in Singapore and also houses our sales and corporate functional departments.
