SUMMARY * Our client is currently looking for a Legal Counsel to provide legal support to the one of their franchised businesses in Asia. This regional work covers 15 countries with the franchises SUMMARY Our client is currently looking for a Legal Counsel to provide legal support to the one of their franchised businesses in Asia. This regional work covers 15 countries with the franchises and requires a physical base in Singapore with minimal travel. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide legal solutions to business needs in franchising Document and manage the business and contractual relationship with franchisees including negotiations with franchise partners Be the legal lead for recruiting new franchisees and refranchising Provide legal strategic thinking in M&A and alternative ownership options and preparing relevant documents Drafting and reviewing regional vendor agreements as well as internal standards and manuals Franchise registration and disclosure filings Shape compliance with global legal policies, implement, track and monitor compliance Work with external counsels to ensure company's contracts and enforcement comply with local laws and regulations, including tax law and dispute resolution Crisis management Build legal know-how internally and among the franchise community by presenting talks, workshops, building repeatable models. REQUIREMENTS Admitted to practice in a Commonwealth jurisdiction 7-10 years' legal experience in corporate commercial and/or franchise law in private practice, in-house or both Knowledge and experience in M&A, e-commerce, digital and technology, data security and privacy laws will be a strong advantage A business-oriented lawyer who enjoys and excel in legal drafting with the ability to synthesize complex information effectively and explaining complex legal issues to non-lawyers A collaborative team player who can adapt their style to meet the needs of different situations and audience Ability to regularly deal with ambiguity and assess risk Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening skills) to proactively engage and influence cross- functional peers, internal clients, senior management, franchisees and suppliers to find commercially practicable solutions and to implement them A high performer who takes the initiative and is able to lead projects and work independently Sensitivity to different cultures, backgrounds and objectives Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and handle changing priorities successfully in a fast-paced environment High personal and professional integrity and the ability to establish personal credibility within the department and organization Courage and integrity to do what is right.
