The Role Responsibilities
The central CCIB Client Coverage Legal team provides advice and support to a broad array of teams across the Group, including 1. CCIB RFOs (including CFCC, Fraud, OR), 2. Lending Product & Loans & Agency, 3. Client Coverage COO (including Client Management, Credit CoE, CLDM), 4. Credit, 5. Digital Product Owners, 6. Credit & Portfolio Management, 7. CCIB CDO and Head, Data Management & Governance and Head, Data Commercialisation, 8. TTO. Given the scale and breadth of the team\'s responsibility, it is important to have a strong, diverse and collaborative team with various types and levels of experience.
Strategy

  • To advise and support the following key stakeholder groups with strategic relevance for the Group: 1. CCIB RFOs (including CFCC, Fraud, OR), 2. Lending Product & Loans & Agency, 3. Client Coverage COO (including Client Management, Credit CoE, CLDM), 4. Credit, 5. Digital Product Owners, 6. Credit & Portfolio Management, 7. CCIB CDO and Head, Data Management & Governance, and Head, Data Commercialisation 8. TTO
  • To advise and support the CCIB business with a focus on the Client Coverage relationship manager teams, in providing legal support to their activities to grow the business and revenue in facilitating all aspects of servicing a corporate / institutional client.
  • To advise, support and act as a conduit between LCS teams, especially Country, Regional and Product teams supporting CCIB business, and the key stakeholder groups referred to above, on issues and projects originating from those key stakeholder groups.
Business
  • Provide advice and legal support to CCIB Client Coverage for lending, sustainable finance, distressed assets, SC Ventures / fintech partnerships, cross border transactions, technology and investment projects and working closely with CCIB country, regional and product legal teams for transaction banking, global credit markets, financial markets and debt capital markets.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group\'s Values and Code of Conduct .
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years\' post qualification experience, preferably in banking and finance.
  • Excellent legal analytic skills, ability to pick up issues quickly.
  • Experience in risk management.
  • Advisory experience on regulatory and legal issues and developments.
