Job Description


This is an exciting opportunity to join the Family Office as the Legal Counsel, a newly established position. You will report to the CFO based in Singapore and provide legal advice and review contractual documents including corporate transactions, public and private M&A, private equity and investments. You will also occasionally support the Hong Kong office in legal transactions.

Our client is an established Hong Kong-based family office with presence in Greater China, Hong Kong and Singapore. They invest across asset classes and businesses at different stages in frontier markets and innovation, constantly seeking opportunities and diversification to balance risk management and wealth preservation.

Description

  • Providing legal advisory on a broad range of transactions across asset classes with a focus on private equity directs and fund investments, as well as real estate
  • Provide sound legal advice and support to the investment teams to strengthen the investment process, portfolio management and divestment matters
  • Independently manage the legal process of investment transactions including deal structuring, drafting term sheets, reviewing and negotiating definitive legal agreements, supervising and advising on legal due diligence and attending to legal completion of all transactions, liaising with external lawyers where necessary
  • Oversee corporate secretary function and compliance related matters with the support of internal and external teams
Profile
  • Law Degree from a recognised university and Singapore qualified lawyer with 6PQE
  • Candidates from private practice who wish to transit to an in-house role are welcome
  • Relevant work experience in and deep understanding of venture capital, private equity and/or fund investments, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and corporate law
  • Sound foundation in legal knowledge and skills. Proven ability to understand commercial considerations and advice on a broad range of regulatory and corporate matters
  • Knowledge and/or experience in corporate secretarial work is useful, especially familiarity with a variety of jurisdictions and legal forms including the Cayman Islands, Singapore, BVI and Delaware.
  • Relevant experience in tax practice, either in private practice or IRAS would be a bonus

Upon successful offer, candidate can expect to receive a competitive remuneration package as per market. You will also have the opportunity to work independently and autonomously to advise senior management relating to day-to-day legal matters. The office is also located centrally at CBD.
