Job Description

The Sustainability Manager supports the Sustainability Function in driving Income\'s sustainability agenda by working strategically with internal stakeholders, including the Sustainability Work Group (i.e. SWG, which steers the operationalisation of the sustainability agenda across different sustainability work streams at the company), Management and the Board, as well as external partners to operationalise Income Insurance\'s sustainability vision and strategy, annual sustainability material actions, business priorities and targets.

He/She will be a key member of the Sustainability Secretariat to the Board Sustainability Committee at Income Insurance and will lead the SWG to drive and progress the company\'s sustainability agenda and ambition to transition Income Insurance to a low carbon business and to bring about a more inclusive and resilient society.

Key Responsiblities

Sustainability strategy

  • Support implementation of Income Insurance\'s sustainability strategy and programmes in alignment with the company\'s sustainability vision, policies, material actions, business priorities and targets.
  • Monitor and be conversant about evolving sustainability trends/regulation/issues/best practices and their impact on the company and business, including regular peer benchmarking.
  • Work closely with colleagues to facilitate improved understanding and integration of ESG factors into their business areas, covering both risks and opportunities, including capacity building, to bridge gaps and to progress sustainability at Income Insurance.
  • Improve ESG policies, data collection and reporting at entity level.
  • Work alongside and be the main liaison person to manage consultant partners who have been appointed by Income Insurance for related sustainability initiatives/projects.
  • Integration of ESG considerations into to enterprise risk frameworks and integrated assurance frameworks.
  • Adoption of ESG frameworks and standards, including implementation and process transformation.
  • Remain updated on ESG trends and developments and translate them into actionable improvements at Income.
  • Lead training sessions or workshops on sustainability practices for employees, provide coaching and best practice sharing.
Transition to a low-carbon business
  • Supports sound transition planning to a low-carbon business, including facilitating credible decarbonisation efforts by customers in accordance with regulatory guidelines, industry development, global advances, where relevant. This includes development and execution of net zero strategies, feasibility analysis and decarbonisation roadmaps with the SWG and consultants, where relevant.
  • Set goals, milestones, and measure progress to drive the decarbonsation/Net Zero 2050 agenda alongside relevant internal stakeholders and sustainability workstream leads and sponsors.
  • Development and execution of carbon value chain roadmaps, including ethical supply chains transformations.
Sustainability reporting & disclosure
  • Track, monitor, drive and facilitate progress and report on the company\'s sustainability targets and deliverables, including quarterly sustainability scorecard reporting to the Management, Board-level committees and the Board according to the company\'s reporting cycle and public disclosure timeline.
  • Facilitate and organise the agenda for Sustainability Committee meetings and participate in management or Board meetings with company leadership.
  • Measurement and reporting of ESG performance, including use of data analytics solutions and application of accounting and valuation methodologies to improve the company\'s sustainability impact, including documentation and maintaining sustainability-related data and information for annual sustainability reporting and disclosure.
  • Drive and manage the drafting and production of a high-quality sustainability report annually that embeds also TCFD disclosure requirements, and other disclosure guidelines/regulations that may apply.
  • Support external communication to stakeholders on material developments in the enterprise ESG performance and credentials.
Requirements:
  • Degree/certifications in relevant fields, e.g. Sustainability and Climate Risk and other relevant ESG-related courses.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability-related field, preferably in the finance/insurance sector.
  • Must possess knowledge of sustainability and climate-related issues, including about risks and opportunities, international standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of insurance strategies to build preventative and mitigating measures against potential risks/losses is a bonus.
  • Passionate in driving sustainability integration in business, and possesses commercial, creative, and pragmatic thinking about improving ESG practices.
  • An independent self-starter who comes up with new approaches and is adept at responding quickly, thoughtfully, and effectively to changing priorities in a demanding and fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders of various management levels, and with a hands-on approach.
  • Aptitude to excel in an agile environment, work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • A confident strategic thinker with excellent project management, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with cross-functional teams to drive synergy in the business and roll-out of projects.
  • Meticulous and creative with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of urgency and responsibility to consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • A positive, energetic and self-motivated team player who is passionate about learning and possesses a can-do attitude, creative flair, good leadership skills and is assertive and adaptable to drive the jobs-to-be-done.
  • Able to influence and catalyse change to improve ESG performance of companies through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship building, influencing and collaboration skills.
  • Familiar with international sustainability frameworks such as GRI, TCFD, CDP, SASB, ISSB, etc
  • Excellent communications (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
