Job Description


Job PurposeThe Industrial Relations / Employee Engagement Manager will support the Senior Manager, Industrial Relations in overseeing the management of employee relations and engagement strategies within the Rail Business unit in SMRT. This role involves fostering a positive work environment, addressing employee concerns, managing labor relations, and implementing programs to enhance employee satisfaction and productivity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to handle complex employee relations issues.ResponsibilitiesLabour Management Relations:

  • Manage relationships with labour unions, including negotiating collective bargaining agreements and addressing contract violations.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Act and regulations, and keep abreast of changes in labour legislation.
  • Handle disputes and grievances with unions and support management in labour negotiations.
Employee Relations:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding workplace concerns and grievances.
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, mediate conflicts, and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to address and resolve employee issues effectively.
Employee Engagement:
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Conduct surveys and assessments to gauge employee satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Design and execute employee recognition programs and initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
Collaboration:
  • Partner with HR colleagues to align employee engagement initiatives with overall HR strategies.
  • Work with department heads and managers to address employee issues and support business objectives.
Policy Development and Compliance:
  • Create and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to organizational policies and labor laws
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field. Master\'s degree or professional HR certification (e.g., IHRP-CP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 to 6 years of experience in employee relations, labour relations, or a related HR role.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws, employment regulations, and best practices in employee engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and employee engagement tools.
