The Manager, Marketing Communications, drives and supports the formulation of strategy and policy and executes the University\'s development marketing and communications efforts, especially for the University Capital Campaign.

The incumbent is a strategic thinker who is required to execute multifaceted marketing and communications campaigns across a variety of channels (e.g. print, presentations, video, visual and digital media, media relations, community relations, email and the Web) to promote a consistent, compelling brand and message of philanthropic giving to the University and maintain a positive public image for the organisation

The incumbent must exhibit a strong desire to serve the needs of a fast-paced, high- volume Marcomms operation with adaptability and resourcefulness. This person must be a strong writer and editor, and an effective project manager to move key projects forward.

This person must possess strong digital marketing data analytic skills to help drive the success of digital platforms such as the University Giving website, and University Giving social media platforms.

This person must have some experience in media issues management to help manage the brand\'s reputation and shape public opinion through curation of all public-facing communications.

The responsibilities of this role are:

  • Effectively support a multi-platform communications strategy and plan.
  • Help to create a dynamic and fully integrated suite of communications materials including publications, websites, videos, brochures, content development across channels, social media, event communications, and gift acknowledgement letters, and executive speechwriting
  • Employ market research to create appropriate and effective communications to put in place forward-thinking and aligned marketing strategies and execute these efficiently to increase participation and revenue for donor programmes
  • Source for, develop and write stories to highlight the benefits of philanthropic giving to the University and its greater impact on the community
  • Effectively engage internal and external media to communicate the University\'s social impact and the role of private support in achieving the University\'s mission
  • Develop and regularly report on a set of metrics for measuring the effectiveness of the department\'s marketing and communications programm
  • Design, write and produce individualised communications and deliverables that recognise major gifts and annual giving donor cohorts to convey the impact of their philanthropy
  • Stay abreast of continued advances in communications, marketing and web best practices and technologies that can meet institutional needs
  • Oversee the work of vendors and manage them in a fiscally responsible manner
The ideal candidate will need to have the following qualities and experience:
  • Graduate from a recognised University with at least 5 years\' experience in marketing and communications, social media, as well as digital marketing
  • Strong background in marketing and communications, with a proven track record of developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies to advance an organisation\'s strategic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear, targeted, and non-traditional branding and marketing strategies tailored for different audiences and channels
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including superior skills in writing, translating complex concepts for a general audience, and a strong graphic and design sense
  • Highly collaborative style with the energy, maturity and leadership to serve as a unifying force and position marketing and communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Excellent organisational and project management / leadership skills with high attention to details, ability to multi-task and work under pressure with high levels of efficiency and accuracy
  • Sound judgement and the ability to think strategically are essential
  • Proficient in all aspects of computer operation and software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Photoshop etc.)
