Job Description

• Conduct marketing of newly developed polymer-related products (“Product”) in ASEAN and China, etc. in close cooperation with the parent company, Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd. (“SCC”) in Japan. Collect and analyze customer needs and application and technology trends including competing materials in the markets and report them to the new Product development function of SCC group. This marketing activity will contribute to the creation of new Product development themes and of new businesses of the SCC group.
  

• Build network of contacts for mutual cooperation both inside and outside the company.
  

• Propose and implement measures to promote market research, Product development, and prototyping new Products rapidly.
  

• Provide support for expanding SCC’s existing Products sales (especially, for functional Products and new Products) in ASEAN and China market, etc.
  

• Through on-the-job training, support relevant members of Subsidiary company in Shanghai and Japan HQ in improving their work execution capabilities.
  

• Strong information-gathering and analysis skills.
  

• Minimum 2 years of Polymer R&D and technical service experience
  

• Minimum 5 years of sales or marketing experience on Products, especially of newly developed Products.
  

• Good knowledge of properties, quality and processing of polymeric materials.
  

• General knowledge about product development and marketing and solid knowledge of the actual market of polymer end products.
  

• Knowledge of contracts, antitrust laws and related regulations in ASEAN.
  

• Good ability to propose, negotiate, and persuade.
  

• Professionally proficient language skills in English and Japanese for regular effective communication with Japanese counterparts (specially the new product development function in Japan HQ), customers, manufacturers, trading companies, distributors, government agencies and universities etc. in ASEAN region etc.
