Job Description


Responsibilities

Work with network engineering teams and business teams to plan, develop and execute strategies around new technology evaluation and adoption (5G, Network as a Service, Data as a Service, Communication Platform as a Service). Extend these strategies to Optus and our regional associates. Manage and drive new network capability incubation and development through discovery, co-creation and solutioning with vendors and in house software teams and engineering teams. Manage and operate the Innovation and Development centre (IDC) which is a lab space for co-creation with vendor partners. Hands on knowledge of NFVI/Cloud native infrastructure (e.g. Ericsson, VMware, KVM, OpenStack) etc is needed to manage the IDC infrastructure and onboard vendor solutions for trials/PoC. Put together and articulate technology strategy recommendation to top management (Group CTO level). Demonstrate ability to back decisions with research and the ‘why’ and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and provide recommendations. Project manage adoption of new capabilities into IDC/staging environments and subsequently production network. Drive scope definition, requirement analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment. Develop e2e network architecture blueprints working with architects and network SMEs that layout the mid/long term network transformation plans. Working knowledge of broad range of communication technologies across 5G/4G mobile, SDN/NGCE, NFVI/Cloud, API exposure and network capability abstraction. Participate in industry forums (NGMN, GSMA etc) to maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology etc and share white papers /industry developments and assess implications to Singtel. Put together department and group networks annual operating plan to enable Group networks to become the leading digital telco in the region Project manage RFI/RFT to source and procure new capability and perform any needed administrative tasks and responsibilities e.g. PO/SE/GRS issuance, asset commissioning etc Manage innovation project budget including CAPEX, OPEX and manpower resources. Any other tasks assigned by direct supervisor. Nature of TST work is fluid and candidate needs to be flexible in work scope and be willing to take on new roles & projects. Education and Qualifications BS degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Work Experience 8+ years’ experience of Architect / Technical Design Role in Fixed &/or Mobile Technology including technical architecture, infrastructure network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations Technical Skills

  • Experience as a team lead
  • Experience with AWS and VMware enterprise implementations
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies, including Software defined networks (SDN) and virtualised network / cloud infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of cloud native application design including micro services and container
  • Familiar with both Mobile and Fixed Network Architecture
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments
