Objectives

• Lead & coordinate Technical Development (TD) (e.g., new application development and product development) for TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) Injection Molding Consumer Electronics Universal (CEU) segment community.

• Work closely with TD leader, Regional Marketing, and local Technical Service (TS) / Application Development (AD) / Sales in identifying and developing technical development opportunities to realize the strategic objectives in Asia Pacific.
• Coordinate cross regional technical development activities in TPU.
• Drive and influence specification for all TPU accounts (sub segment).

ResponsibilitiesIndividual Accountabilities:Tech Development

• Build strong technical team (TD regional with AD and TS local).
• Identify technology trends and share with segment leads- technology trends, competition, regulations, etc.
• Regularly update and implement technical road map based on segment strategy and identify technology needs.
• Supports product launch (e.g., Participate as part of a product launch team to ensure smooth introduction of the product in customer serving processes. Support presentation/seminars and workshops to launch products.
• Coordinate closely with product management, operations, R&D, and sales as necessary and work as one team to accomplish tasks.
• Provide expert training to local TS/AD/Sales team.

Application Development

• Technical multiplication (new/current applications with current solutions), Innovation Drive (influence R&D focus, influence industry/product strategy).
• Communication with internal and external partners on the application areas by providing regular updates on project status. Participate, organize, and present results in meetings.
• Provide product and process recommendation to country team.
• Timely communication of the status of new grade development to promote innovation sales.

Tech Service

• Technical Implementation (current applications with current solutions) and Innovation Optimization (influence product/application development).
• Support Sales/TS by coordinating sample availability for customer trials.

Innovation Drive/Optimization (influence product/application development)

• Formulation optimization when necessary and feedback to R&D, TD and Marketing team.
• Influence selection (key) customers.
• Influence product/application development focus.
• Influence product strategy and new product launches.

Requirements

• Masters or Bachelor of Science degree in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Min 5-8 years of experience in technical/application development for injection molding applications.
• Experience dealing with customers across Asia Pacific.
• Expert knowledge in polymer materials, particularly TPU, product development, application development, processing technology.
• Experience on project management.
• Strategic thinking, fast learner, willing to familiarize with the Business.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Motivated self-starter, independent, work under minimum supervision.
• Ability to multi-task and to be a team player.
• Skills and experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Comfortable working within a matrix organization
