Job Description




Deliver manufacturing technology and/or capability acuisition projects.
Work with Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders (MECLs) or equivalent, and Manufacturing Process Owners (MPOs) to ensure that technology solutions are aligned to existing strategies.

Key Accountabilities

- HSE - Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
- Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design intent and responsible for mitigating against process deviation.
- Quality - Operate a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Contol and Intellectual Property requirements.
- Requirements - Identify and develop opportunitities for improvements and innovations in manufacturing capability.
- Planning - Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales.
- Develop Capability - Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve capability, capital (equipment & tooling) and manufacturing technology which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
- Deploy Capability - Create, Maintain and/or Govern elements of the Technical Package which clearly define the manufacturing process and control them effectively.
- Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manuacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Identify, document and share best practice. Capture and utilise lessons learnt.
- Develop Talent - Responsible for self development to meet the required competencies for the role. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence.
- Build external relationships - Operate beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of their objectives.
- Manage capital projects - Where required, support business capital projects to support capacity, business continuity and infrastructure improvements.

Key Experiences and any Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified Engineer (UK minimum BEng degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred)
  • UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or other national equivalent relevant to specialist subject area
  • Typically a member of relevant professional body/institute at Fellow level (or equivalent)
  • A deep understanding of specialist subject and proven ability to influence key decisions
  • Understanding of Intellectual Property and Export Control requirements
