Responsibilities



Operational & Technical Oversight


Safety & Compliance: Ensure vessels and crew comply with safety standards, international maritime laws, and Flag State/Port State regulations. Technical Management: Support and oversee the technical aspects of fleet operations, including cargo-related checks, voyage readiness, and compliance with operational and marine technical requirements, ensuring efficient and safe vessel performance. Technical Issues: Investigate and follow up on technical and machinery failures and accidents, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Surgeys & Inspections: Ensure all Flag, Class, and Statutory surveys/Inspections are monitored and deficiencies are rectified promptly.
Management & Strategy


Budget Management: Monitor and control the operational expenditure (OPEX) related to vessel operations, including agency fees, port/terminal charges, and other voyage-related expenses, explaining variances and identifying cost-optimization opportunities - excluding repairs and maintenance costs. Risk Management: Review and recommend improvements to the company's risk management practices and develop strategies for managing risk within the fleet operaions. Team Leadership: Manage and motivate a team of superintendents and other marine professionals, translating strategy into practical actions and supporting shipboard staff. Performance Monitoring: Review various reports, including vessel maintenance and techinical analyses, to assist in formulating long and short-term asset management strategies.
Regulatory & External Relations


Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends, techonological advancements, and changes in regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance. Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the shore-based team, shipboard staff, and external stakeholders like Flag Administrations. Emergency Response: Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team when required.
Requirements


At least 7 years and above of experience in marine operations, preferably Chief Engineer, Marine Superintendent. A Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science or a related field. * Experience with fleet management, vessel inspections, and regulatory compliance.
