Marine Relations Manager

Opportunity
The Marine Relations Manager shall support in building strong industrial relations, preparing necessary mandates for global union negotiations, development of Marine HR policies, creation of competitive compensation packages and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

The Marine Relations Manager shall investigate assigned Crew complaint and grievance cases efficiently, prepare all necessary reports and propose final resolution.

The Marine Relations Manager shall provide the wider marine HR team with advice on legal, regulatory, and union matters.

The position reports to the Head of Marine Relations.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation & Benefits


  • Develop competitive Crew compensation and benefit packages in compliance with employment regulations in the relevant countries, such as Denmark, Germany, UK, South Africa, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, India, China and Philippines and relevant collective bargaining Agreements

  • Collect wage benchmarks in collaboration with the wider Marine HR Team

  • Prepare wage scales and ensure necessary approvals are obtained

  • Work closely with the Head of Marine Payroll to keep the payroll system updated with all relevant CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) terms and wage scale data, and ensure compliance with necessary control processes

  • Administer Crew welfare schemes hereunder health insurance policies

Industrial Relations

  • Propose and maintain the CBA negotiations mandate for the negotiating teams in all regions in alignment with company\xe2\x80\x99s targets

  • Participate in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with unions in Singapore and Hong Kong, and manage existing agreements

  • Build capabilities and manage strategic relationships with flags states/regulators, shipping/ employer associations and, unions specifically in Asia Pacific region

Complaints & Grievances

  • Maintain existing anti-harassment and anti-bullying policies and procedures related to the handling of Crew complaints and grievance cases including dispute resolution

  • Handle investigation of assigned harassment/bullying or Crew grievance cases, preparation of reports and final case resolution

  • Maintain and analyse statistical data of harassment/bullying or Crew grievance cases

  • Work closely with the Maersk Group whistle blower department on cases related to Seafarers

Policies & Procedures

  • Develop and implement Marine HR policies and procedures

Regulatory & Legal Advice

  • Ensure all existing processes and systems continue to comply with GDPR

  • Maintain and develop Seafarer Employment Agreement templates

  • Provide support and infrastructure to assist in compliance with Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) across various aspects of Marine HR

  • Act as point of contact for flag state administrations on operational matters

General

  • Cross functional coordination, management reporting, stakeholder management, business process optimisation


We are looking for

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience working within Crewing, Training, HSSEQ, Marine or Technical

  • Seagoing experience is an advantage

  • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • A strong team player with positive attitude and a collaborative mindset

  • Able to work independently and under pressure in high pace environment

  • High motivation and drive, flexible attitude

  • Structured and well organized with good report writing skills

  • Analytical skills

  • Knowledge Required: MLC and STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) and various CBAs
