Lead the HSSEQ Department consistent with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Vision, and Values.
Supervises, assigns duties, and appraises performance of employees and contractors assigned to the HSSEQ Department in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Ensure that the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Management System is effectively implemented, understood, maintained, and continuously improved by all shore and sea staff and remains in compliance with and certified by recognized authorities.
Promoting awareness to all seagoing staff of the need to operate the vessels to the highest standard consistent with relevant International and National Legislation and according to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Management System.
Assist in reporting company HSSEQ performance to the highest level of the shore-based management with regard to all matters of Safety, Health, Environmental Protection and Quality.
Ensuring that adequate resources and appropriate training are made available for compliance with the expectations of the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Management System.
Ensuring regular HSSEQ statistics are reported and full investigations of all accidents and dangerous occurrences are prepared and presented to the Company Management.
Together with Head of HSSEQ & Marine, HSSEQ Manager is to Monitor whether non-conformities, deficiencies, corrective and preventive actions are correctly applied and followed through as well as verifying the effectiveness of such actions.
HSSEQ Manager is to prepare and supervise the programme of Internal Audits within the office and onboard all Managed Vessels, monitoring the timely implementation of all drills and audits of the Company and the managed vessels and ensuring the audit results are reported to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Managers.
Ensuring that the company\xe2\x80\x99s safety management-controlled documents are properly approved and/or authorized prior to issue.
Prepare the Annual Management and Environment Review at the beginning of the calendar year
Monitoring regulatory and practical developments in matters of safety, quality, and environmental protection for timely implementation by the Company.
Supporting the Commercial, Vessel Operations, Technical, and Legal departments in safety related matters, including interface with clients, underwriters, industry organizations and regulatory authorities.
Member of Emergency Response Team (refer to emergency response plan)

The ideal candidate can educate, coach and assist the members of the fleet team and the shipboard management within the areas of HSSEQ, enabling the team/vessels to operate without compromising safety standards. He/she should be able to effectively use his/her maritime and organizational knowledge and connect with a crew of different nationalities, cultures and languages. He/She is an open and outgoing person that people can trust and relate to. In unfavourable situations, he/she has the courage to intervene or escalate breaches for resolution. Requirements
Minimum seven years of shore-based experience
Holder of Class I (Ship Captain) Certificate is preferred
Previous experience with Dry Bulk shipping is preferred
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred
Good Knowledge of International Maritime Regulations, Marine Industry standards (ISM Code, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 etc) and HSSEQ practices is necessary.
Confident trainer and strong motivator/communicator
Fluent in verbal and written English
