The Role Responsibilities

Job Summary

This is a newly created Market Head role focused on growing the Indonesia market through strategic planning and execution, hiring of Private Bankers and acquiring clients.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Set strategic direction and hiring and sales plans for the Indonesia Market to significantly expand and grow the business while upholding highest control environment standards, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards regulatory risks.
  • Collaborate with relevant Regional Heads to embed Indonesia Market client propositions.
  • Drive our \xe2\x80\x9cOne Bank\xe2\x80\x9d mission \xe2\x80\x93 building and deploying strong links & synergies with client segments, product groups and functions for Indonesia.
Business
  • Deliver sustainable and profitable revenue growth through leadership on sales management and exercising supervisory responsibilities with a clear oversight on risk and control environment.
  • Develop and implement Indonesia Market business/sales plans to significantly expand upon existing business and substantially grow this through hiring talent and attracting top clients.
  • Deliver NNM, AUM, and revenue growth targets and key operating metrics for the Indonesia Market (such as tail accounts management, client acquisition, client satisfaction, portfolio mix, countries banked, RM attrition).
  • Work with Regional Head of PvB to hire and build, lead and tier up a team of world class private bankers and ensure that the Private Banking team works effectively with all Product partners and other stakeholders (e.g. COO, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance, Operations etc).
  • Manage within relevant cost budgets.
  • Drive improved returns on RWA, operate within any RWA caps and minimize use of RWA
Processes
  • Support the continuous improvement of processes to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to the framework for effective management of operational risks across the Business and in compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations at a global level.
  • Ensure delivery of Business strategy in a safe and well-controlled manner and on an end-to-end basis.
  • Ensure sales management, suitability and onboarding processes are applied appropriately
People & Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
  • Build multiple top teams of Private Bankers with a focus on senior talent with a deep understanding and connections to the Indonesian market and clients capable of ensuring delivery of the business\xe2\x80\x99 short and longer-term objectives.
  • Develop and embed a high-performance culture with specific focus on RM capability, effectiveness and productivity.
  • Coach, guide and management team to deliver against the financial, non-financial and risk/control objectives.
  • Drive an environment of collaboration within their remit of responsibility, to ensure issues are raised and blockages are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Drive resourcing, performance management and reward decisions within their Market.
  • Identify and address the top issues/opportunities for performance improvement in the team.
  • Develop talent to ensure a high-quality succession pipeline at all levels and sponsor ongoing development activities that focus on the identified high performing and high potential individuals within the team.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct and indirect reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
Risk Management
  • Act as the second line of defense that clients are treated fairly.
  • Understand the risk and control environment within area of responsibility and drive rectification as required.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in compliance with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, Compliance, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation.
  • Clear structures of accountability to ensure that team members are capable of performing successfully in their roles.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Risk Management framework throughout the organisation:
  • Risk appetite is clear and integral to the strategy with appropriate controls
  • Effective processes in place to identify, manage, monitor and report risk
  • Ensure that Risk Management matters that are brought to attention are subject to direct remedial action and/or ensure adequate reporting to the relevant Risk Committees.
Governance
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group\xe2\x80\x99s arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight, and controls in the Market and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Fulfil supervisory responsibilities in line with supervisory principles.
  • Provide relevant input into the formulation and effective execution of rules, policies and procedures applicable to the Market.
  • Appropriate representation at Local Client Committee and other relevant committees for the Market.
  • Engage with all audit report findings for the team and ensure feedback is acted upon

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Academic or Professional Education/Qualifications \xe2\x80\x93 relevant degree
  • Licenses and Certifications/accreditations \xe2\x80\x93 as required by role remit and responsibility
  • Professional Memberships \xe2\x80\x93 as required by role remit and responsibility
  • Bank training; i.e. mandatory & developmental \xe2\x80\x93 as below
  • Languages \xe2\x80\x93 fluency in business English
  • Demonstrable and relevant experience in the Private Banking industry commensurate with this remit and level of responsibility
  • Proven capabilities in growing businesses and developing franchise
  • Proven risk management capabilities
  • Firm in all business guidelines and compliance issues
  • Strong people management and coaching skills
  • Sound knowledge of financial markets and investment products
  • Must possess sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), strong leadership skills, excellent international skills and multicultural awareness and sensitivity
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers in dedicated markets with sound understanding of the relevant legal, political and economic situation/framework
  • Profound understanding of cultural, ethnic and religious market conditions across the region
