We are looking for an experienced individual to perform the role of Materials Specialist. This role is to ensure that Heavy Maintenance logistics and materials holdings meets business requirements utilizing MRO and Operator experience.

The incumbent will be responsible for the end-to-end logistics coordination of MRO Heavy Maintenance. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring that the appropriate Logistics and Materials Heavy Maintenance strategies are developed and applied to individual projects, setting up professional relationships with vendors, ensuring that the appropriate spares are available at MRO facility to support Heavy Maintenance activity.

Reporting to the Lead Technical Compliance Coordinator, your main accountabilities will include:

  • Understand business needs within their requirement and contribute to the development of appropriate materials strategy related to External MRO support to ensure value for money, high levels of service and compliance with procedures and professional best practice.
  • Manage executed Heavy Maintenance contractual strategy with regards to materials and freight through various streams. Work closely with Cross-Functional Teams, providing regular updates to the stakeholders and Engineering senior management.
  • Action on AOG, CRITICAL and ROUTINE requisitions to satisfy business requirements
  • Monitor parts movements to ensure availability for planned maintenance and defect rectification within Heavy Maintenance environment
  • Minimize deferrals out of Heavy Maintenance
  • Mailbox management of purchasing, repairs and logistics requirements
  • Freight cost control and supplier management through a process of Vendor Management Meetings (supplier Performance Meetings) with correlating vendor KPIs.
  • Review all current Materials and Freight cost and MIN/MAX levels relating to Heavy Maintenance operations and ensure that the best outcome is being achieved. Where required liaise with SCCM team and look to alternate options of Freight shipment to ensure best outcome for the business is achieved
  • Research and analysis of stock holdings to ensure appropriate spares are located at MRO facility to support planned work.
  • Be a Safety Leader within Jetstar Materials and Logistics Department
  • Ensure adequate OHS resources are provided to implement and maintain the S.A.F.E. System and associated programs.
  • Demonstrate commitment and leadership to OHS by participating in meetings, inspections, promotions and other appropriate activities
  • Encourage and promote the involvement of all employees in achieving a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Act with due care/consideration to safeguard own health and safety and that of others.
  • Ensure compliance with safe working practices.
  • Comply with all Occupational Health & Safety Responsibilities, Authorities & Accountability as detailed in Jetstar Policies and Procedures
  • Comply with all responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities as required by the Group management system standard and associated policies
  • Be fully conversant with and manage strict adherence to Group policy and procedures relating to contracts, legal obligations, standards of conduct, and remain compliant with Group Ethics and Standards.
  • Develop database for C check Materials & Logistics activities
  • Provide adequate reporting of Heavy Maintenance spend related to logistics and materials to Engineering Senior management
  • Analyze and compare Heavy Maintenance freight cost per event
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills & experience:
  • At least a diploma in logistics related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of procurement (purchasing or repairs) or logistics experience, preferably in Aviation Operational Environment
  • Strong customer focus, highly motivated and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Able to work independently and effectively with all levels of management.
  • Possess excellent analytical ability using IT platforms such as, but not limited to, MS Excel.
  • Understanding of aircraft support systems including TRAX, AIRNAV and Microsoft Office (Excel is a must) and Power BI applications will be preferred.
  • Must be able to travel overseas for short term work assignments.
