Job Description


We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, innovative, quick learner with excellent interpersonal skills to work in National Metrology Centre. The successful candidate will provide technical support and leadership in:

Provide Calibration and Measurement Services

  • Calibration of clients\xe2\x80\x99 instruments in the Mass & Force areas
  • Provide training & consultancy services to clients
  • Provide measurement solutions for industrial projects
  • Development new metrological capabilities & services based on emerging/changing industrial needs
  • Manage technical enquires
  • Measurement Standards Related Works
Development of new measurement standards for measurement traceability

  • Maintain measurement standard values for traceability and dissemination to industries
  • Make improvements to existing measurement systems e.g., automation, digitalization etc.
  • Perform international comparison of measurement standards for international recognition
  • Perform metrological and measurement related R&D activities for improvement of measurement standards or to provide measurement solutions for industry
Quality System Related Works

  • laboratory operations to fulfil the center\xe2\x80\x99s quality system\xe2\x80\x99s requirements
  • Organise & perform proficiency testing, inter-laboratory comparison of measurement standards for dissemination of measurement traceability
  • Conduct laboratory assessment for technical competency
Staff Development

  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Manage junior staff development
  • Manage student\xe2\x80\x99s attachments for project work
Automation & Digitalisation

  • Design laboratory automation processes
  • Plan & execute digitalization & automation projects
Others

  • Involvement in center-wide initiatives and activities e.g. committees, task force, working groups, organise conferences etc.
  • Involvement in A-STAR wide activities e.g. corporate committees etc.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in science or engineering
  • Experience in precision engineering, and length and dimensional metrology
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and statistical analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of optics and laser technology, nanotechnology, length and dimensional metrology, and precision engineering will be a preference
  • Automation and digital skills, and experience in technical and project management will be an advantage
  • Team spirit and problem-solving ability
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
