  • Responsible for the overall control and execution of the information technology (IT) operations in the local affiliate with respect to the Group strategy for IT and PMO.
  • Strategically partner and enable business initiatives along with efficient, value for money technological governance aligned to the Group Control IT Financial Accounting Policy.
  • Maintain strong communications with affiliate’s leadership of D&I, Legal and Finance.
Establish a secure, digitally innovative environment, in partnership with local and global stakeholders, that is seen as enabling SGS to achieve their overall objectives and where local activities are measured for value realization
  • Information Technology
o Oversee the entire IT operations and IT projects to be aligned to SGS PMO and Group Control policies. o Be responsible for local affiliate cybersecurity in all areas. Act as ongoing cybersecurity champion for all local management and its risk owners. o Prepare and develop the affiliate for ISO 27001 certifications as applicable. o Review and optimize IT expense and value and fit-for-purpose and propose improvement plans aligned to both the local and Group strategy in that area. o Supervise the local IT team roles and supplier structure, including monitor and maintain supporting infrastructure to SLA for its availability maximizing the use of SGS Group resourcing. o Manage the professional development needs of the local IT staff and prepare IT capacity plans that supports demand management. o Remain continually educated on the SGS Group IT and LOB IT Strategies and how they relate to the affiliate. o At all times adhering to PMO process, particularly large initiatives prior to execution stage. o Align with IT-related project sponsors on their business cases and how commercial benefits would be realized to ensure appropriate IT governance. o Support and communicate as Local Management (“Go-to-person” for strategic / tactical IT-related requests). o Align on management level with regards to affiliate IT strategy, roadmap, priorities, ongoing initiatives and budgets. o Ensure an IT Service Desk function is fit for purpose, with a focus on maturity of service, automation and SLA adherence. Leverage Group resources wherever appropriate. o Enforce the “Cloud First” strategy of the Group with compliance to “Demand Management” and PMO processes. o Ensure IT administration and Procurement is resourced to be effective, accurate and timely. o Provide advisory on local IT’s key data repositories (reporting) and maintain inventory of assets.
o Resource the local layer of support the corporate applications, aligned to the Group’s Application Support model for each (Back Office Support System (BOSS), LIMS, SharePoint and etc).
  • Responsible for frequent local communication of the Group IT strategy to the local business leadership and local IT staff, and as informed by the Regional IT Manager or CIO.
  • Align with Legal on needs relating to affiliate data privacy and local data classification initiatives that may impact technology and remain educated of what is locally changing to forecast future requirements and escalate as needed.
o Ensure funded application support structures for affiliate-level applications or systems deployed, where they are agreed with upper management to be maintained. At all times be responsible for the security upkeep and obsolescence management budget for these applications. o Preparation of local IT implementation plans of IT solutions, aligned to the Group and LOB IT strategy. o Coordination with super users or key users for support requests and escalations. o Provide resource and advisory for the setup of specific conferencing and webinar requests. o Identify and promote future leaders. o Resolve or escalate to management issues where operational activities present a compliance conflict to SGS IT policies, after a local review of reasonable alternatives. o At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct. HSE Resnponsibilities:
  • Comply with SGS Rules for Life, SGS affiliate and local legal requirements related with Health, Safety & Environment (Operational Integrity).
  • Adopt, at all times, a safe behaviour by exercising due regard for the health and safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS policies and procedures.
Have the responsibility to apply "Stop Work Authority" if they have doubts about the safety hazards and effectiveness of the safety barriers.

Qualifications

  • Degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 10 -15 years of experience in IT service multi-national organisations.
  • Good business acumen with technical know-how.
  • Strong experience in project management lifecycle.
  • Familiar with concepts and implementations of infrastructure major application software.
  • Experience with computer hardware, operating systems, networking/WAN, end user equipment and business application technologies.
  • Understand the businesses and business needs in order to provide IT solutions that meet internal standards and requirements, and strategy of the company.
  • Stakeholder management and communications at all levels of a similarly sized business
  • IT operations support leadership with corporate technology suite awareness.
  • Remote user and leadership scenarios
  • Clear comprehension of infrastructure in a large, dispersed WAN environment
  • Experienced use of reporting and dashboarding in a leadership role focused on KPIs
  • Awareness and continuous improvement in the field related to cybersecurity
  • IT supplier co-ordination to a high level of competency including KPI/SLA reviews, reporting and performance troubleshooting and contract reviews
  • IT tech worker oversight / team leadership (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience in dealing with staff and management at all levels
  • One of: CGEIT, CISA, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor certification or >5 years working in an IT leadership role with a significant cybersecurity program
  • ITIL Foundation certification and related work experience
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones, including evenings or weekends (as needed).
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills (written, verbal and in-person). Strong ability to interact and communicate effectively with senior management, internal stakeholders, external parties and other stakeholders.
  • Superior Office365 skills with PowerBI & SharePoint considered desirable.
  • Understanding of laboratory (LIMS) technologies or operations desirable.
  • Sense of urgency with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
  • Strong history of managing multiple suppliers and best practice IT sourcing on value realization
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
