Job Description

Onboard ATC Engineer Purpose of the job: Comprehensive knowledge on Software engineering disciplines and good level of understanding of software quality through the product development lifecycle are acquired for this role. Knowledge and experience in Software Programming and Coding Conventions, Software Design Documentations, Requirement Traceability, Configuration Management, Change Control and Verification & Validation is highly desirable. The task of this role is to lead software implementation for Onboard products together with focusing on delivery of Software/System works to main projects of Region APAC.
Key responsibilities and challenges
1. Design engineering systems and complex interfaces based on individual project requirements, gathers and analyses complicated technical data, develops system and software implementation, perform and Lead engineering verification and deliver the Onboard software package. (50%)
2. Leadership and working independently in technical decisions. (20%)
3. Support investigation and resolution of technical issues escalated during deployment and test and commissioning activities. (30%)

Responsibilities

• Consulting with the client to develop a full understanding of their technical requirements
• Assessing client feedback to develop and propose suitable designs demonstrating industry best-practices and the application of appropriate technology to suit the requirements
• Developing project documentation, design methodologies and solutions to client functional and operational requirements
• Undertaking site surveys and technical investigations
• Monitoring the VATC system performance after the VATC system handed over to operator, failure investigation, and create the report to clarify to customer.

Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Required
Technical Competencies:
Strong technical background of onboard ATC signalling system.
Demonstrable understanding of electronic control systems, design processes and documentation.
Familiarity, or ability to quickly become familiar, with relevant standards and processes.
5+ years of experience (outside of railway industry) in the deployment and commissioning of VATC system:

• Programming (C, C++)
• Software Development Life Cycle
• SW development process

• Familiarity with engineering tools (Clearquest, Rational DOORS, Jazz, RQM etc.)

Problem Solving:
Demonstrated ability to independently perform analysis and identify issues.

Leadership – Management or Technical:
Proven success leading for effective design and delivery of onboard ATC signalling system.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
Strong verbal/written communications skills for effective interfacing with offshore engineering teams, non-specialist technical team members (domestic and international) with internal and external stakeholders.
Able to provide accurate and timely feedback on issues encountered
Occasional opportunities to act as a trainer to technical field site personnel.
