Job Description

  • Min 2 to 6 years of ops experience gained with a global commodity trading firm
  • Added ops experience covering bulk products (including iron ore, coal, manganese, copper, chrome, grains etc) is useful but not a must. Will also consider good ops cands with exposure to metals or oil and gas.
  • Strong on trade Finance and ICC UCP Publications. SAP exposure or other ERP system exposure is required.
Our client is a renowned and international commodity trading MNC.For this role, you are part of the Operations Team. The purpose of the team is to cover the execution and management of resources, activities, information and processes used to deliver a product from the firm's handover point to the point-of-sale, including storage at warehousing locations or delivery to end customer receiving and/or - reselling points.Key accountabilities:
  • Key liaison between the firm and its customers post contract negotiation
  • Responsible for the execution of the firm's commercial contracts ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled through the entire Supply Chain in compliance with relevant standards & regulatory requirements.
  • Analyses customer's credit and contractual positions prior to authorising the delivery and/or release of product to mitigate any risks to the firm
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely billing of the firm's traded and sundry sales as well as receipt of monies, including the consideration of dispute and quality settlements;
  • Responsible for debt and cash flow management with internal and external stakeholders
  • Co-ordinates shipping formalities with relevant stakeholders at the loading point and/or clearing/discharging of product at the receiving point;
  • Co-ordinates all LOI's as and when required
  • Responsible for Vessel Vetting to ensure compliance to safety and vessel management standards
  • Responsible for all documentary requirements and activities to ensure timely and accurate release of product from warehouses, including facilitating the release of product in conformance to customers' schedules;
  • Responsible for all activities and information flow between customers and Marketing post contract negotiation to foster the firm's position as a Supplier of choice
  • Responsible for all aspects of Trade Finance activities, including the sourcing, allocation/utilisation of trade finance facilities as well as negotiating L/Cs to ensure payment risk is mitigated
  • Negotiates confirmation rates for Trade Finance deals
  • Negotiates post CIF truck and barge rates
  • Responsible for driving improvements to reduce costs and inefficiencies within the Supply Chain
  • Embeds the use of SAP and the firm's systems, tools and reports in relation to data integrity as well as the capture and storage of information for record keeping and audit purposes;

  • Participates in and contributes to Marketing priorities, as required
Key requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in logistics/ supply chain management / business administration with min 2 to 6 years of ops experience gained with a global commodity trading firm
  • Has commodity operations experience doing trade finance (including LC negotiations) contract, invoicing etc is required
  • Product knowledge covering bulk products (including iron ore, coal, manganese, copper, chrome, grains etc) is useful but not a must. Will also consider good ops cands with exposure to metals or oil and gas.
  • Strong on trade Finance and ICC UCP Publications
  • SAP Material Management and SAP Sales & Distribution experience or other ERP systems experience is required
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English both verbal and written
