The role of Principal Analyst, Asia-Pacific, Managed Security Services, is a new position to expand Omdia Cybersecurity capabilities and influence in the managed security services market in APAC. The Cybersecurity Service Area at Omdia currently boasts eight core Intelligence Services providing qualitative and quantitative insights: data security; identity, authentication, and access; infrastructure security; security operations; enterprise security management; IoT security; emerging cybersecurity; and an overarching Cybersecurity Viewpoint service. We now have an opportunity to drill down into the managed security services market in the APAC region and require an analyst to lead this development.

This role provides the tremendous opportunity to shape and develop Omdia's managed security services coverage and will involve working closely with the Service Provider Market Group in Informa Tech. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be working closely with Black Hat and Dark Reading in the Cybersecurity Market Group. The Principal Analyst is required to oversee the development and maintenance of a quantitative market tracker for managed security services, bringing in insights from the current Market Trackers for Cybersecurity.

Qualitative research is also an important part of the role, and the Principal Analyst will be responsible for driving new thought-leading research for clients and prospects relevant to managed security services. The successful candidate will be client-facing, comfortable delivering analysis in syndicated (regularly published reports) and custom form. The position is suited to an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and collaborative person able to express considered and bold views through thought-provoking research and analysis to a mixed audience of technical end users through senior industry executives. Interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work as part of a global team are essential.

Roles and responsibilities

Deliver insightful research: Create and support high quality research in the form of reports, trackers, forecasts, and presentations. Develop and test hypotheses that challenge existing beliefs within a market to provide unique insight. Use all the tools and knowledge at your disposal to produce analysis that goes beyond the descriptive to give Omdia the edge over its competition.

Market high-level industry expertise: Use expertise and experience to define and expand an area of research. Market that expertise at a senior level within our clients and prospects. Provide a timely response to market events and offer up-to-date opinions founded on broad-based experience.

Build and maintain client relationships: As your career progresses at Omdia and Informa Tech, build and maintain a network of client relationships. Become a trusted advisor to these clients over time.

Ensure effective client management: Build and manage ongoing relationships with clients. Represent Omdia, the Cybersecurity Market Group, and Informa Tech, demonstrating your expertise in the managed security services market, as well as taking a broad view of enterprise security technology and its delivery of business outcomes. Support sales, marketing, product management, and PR teams. Participate in client-facing meetings with the sales team and add credibility to Omdia, Cybersecurity Market Group, and Informa Tech relationships.

Expand strategic planning involvement: Offer insight to our planning meetings. Contribute to the direction and strategy of the team. Through the understanding of client needs based on senior-level relationships, develop a customer-based point of view for new products and advisory services.

Qualifications

Quantitative research, with the ability to support, drive, and enhance market forecasts and trackers, and present complex concepts and trends from data in a compelling manner.

Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex ideas.

Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, including a personable manner and the confidence to present to, engage with, and influence executives at the highest levels of the industry.

At least three years of relevant experience working in the fields of managed security, ideally related to the research and analysis community.

The ability to quickly and coherently identify and communicate critical issues impacting the commercial performance of Omdia's vendor and service provider clients across the cybersecurity market.

Solid understanding and insight into the managed security services market, and the ability to quickly form credible, distinctive, compelling, and original opinions on how aspects of these will evolve, and why.

The ability to build and enhance a profile with industry contacts and opinion formers. A network of existing industry contacts would be desirable.

Experience of working with sales and marketing teams to identify and successfully capitalize on business development opportunities.

A proven track record of managing a workload to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are exceeded.
