[What the role is]
We are looking for a highly motivated, committed and inquisitive researcher to augment our research and surveillance programmes at the Environmental Health Institute. If you enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary environment, where your research is translated into evidence-based public health programmes and policies, we invite you to join us. You will work closely with a network of local and international collaborators to shape our public health landscape.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of a dynamic team which conducts operational research on vector-borne and environmentally related diseases in Singapore. The candidate is expected to conduct molecular biological work processes related to pathogen and vector genomics, their evolution and epidemic risk assessment. Your involvement will include the experimental design, execution, data analysis, reporting, and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

[What we are looking for]

Job requirements:

  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Biological/Life Sciences (Preferably majoring in evolutionary biology and population genetics), bioinformatics or related disciplines
  • Strong interest in operational research
  • Ability to work independently, systematically, and meticulously, with an eye for details
  • Good command of the English language, as well as good presentation and writing skills, especially in scientific writing
  • Mentally and physically fit to work independently in a biosafety level 2 laboratory
  • Wet and dry lab skills in next generation sequencing (NGS) and data analyses
  • Prior experience in using R software packages, both Windows and Linux/Command Line Interphase environments and basic programming languages, such as Python
  • Proficiency in population genetics statistics, and phylogenetics analyses
