"Precision Oncology" is a broad term that describes diverse strategies in cancer treatment that have resulted in variable success. While there has been spectacular outcomes in certain contexts, this is not universal across cancers and targets. The Translational Precision Oncology group in the Cancer Signalling & Therapies division of the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology is a highly integrative group that focuses on rarer Asian-centric cancer subtypes, including sarcomas and skin cancers. Together with our clinical and scientific co-investigators, we are generating patient-derived models matched to multi-omic data and systematically assessing drug responses, correlated to well-curated patient data. The goal is to derive accurate predictions of effective treatment in these patients with otherwise dismal outcomes. Some of this work has already directly translated to successful patient treatment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly-motivated research officer to join our team and assist with patient-derived model generation, drug testing, analysis of patient biosamples and publicly available data. The successful candidate will work with our post-doctoral fellows, PI and co-investigators to build upon an existing pipeline for clinical samples, from which the analysis of data can directly impact patients with rare tumours. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively in conceptualizing and conducting research projects.
