Procurement Engineer - Plastics Resins

Description -

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of HP\xe2\x80\x99s Direct Procurement team that develops and manages a world class supply chain in support of award-winning products in both Print and Personal Systems (PS). As a successful candidate you will collaborate across PS with program teams, design teams, operations, Sustainable Impact and Compliance teams, ODM\xe2\x80\x99s and resin suppliers to develop and deliver optimal solutions to enable increased Post-Consumer Recycled plastic resin in our products. In this role, you will play a critical part in helping to drive HP to meet our circularity goals with increased usage of PCR plastic resin that meets our cost, quality and AOS needs.

What a Procurement Engineer - Plastic Resins does at HP:

• Will refine HP\xe2\x80\x99s process and strategy for managing PCR resins used in support of PS products.
• Collaborate with different program teams and business units in PS to best enable supply chain rationalization and best cost, quality, and AOS from NPI to EOL.
• Act as focal point in support of technical and AOS escalations for PCR resins.
• Develop methods to track and manage PCR suppliers to ensure materials used on HP products continue to meet our needs.
• Partner across the organization to help drive towards common solutions across HP.
• Communicates overall direction and reports overall progress at a business unit level.
• Drive innovative solutions with resin suppliers to evolve their solutions to meet HP\xe2\x80\x99s needs.
• Develops and implements test and part qualification plans for manufacturing solutions.
• Leads cross functional teams to resolve technical issues across multiple disciplines.
• Optimizes and continuously improves delivery, quality, and cost.
• Protects HP\xe2\x80\x99s IP and business interests.
• Provides guidance, mentoring and leadership to the broader HP team.
• Occasional travel and flexible work hours are required to work with worldwide partners and suppliers.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

• Have direct knowledge of the Personal Systems business.
• Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering or Business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• BSME or related scientific discipline.
• 10 years working experience in the field of custom metal component design and manufacturing and is familiar with a variety of metal manufacturing technologies.
• Knowledge of design capabilities and limitations of metal manufacturing technologies, tooling, and processes.
• Understanding of sources of variation that affect part quality, cost, and overall capacity.
• Experience using 2D and 3D CAD applications.
• Strong analytic and empirical problem-solving skills.
• Aptitude to work collaboratively, both within and outside one\xe2\x80\x99s own work group.
• Proven ability to influence and lead execution activities on new strategic development work.
• High level of initiative and able to self-direct and prioritize work.
• Experienced in a range of design optimization methods.
• Value Engineering.
• Design for Manufacturing.
• Design of Experiments.
• FMEA.
• Tolerance analysis.
• Experience with a variety of Metrology methods and equipment, and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility techniques.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance standards.
• Ability to define part specifications and test protocols.
• Ability to analyse data, create reports, and distil key messages to co-workers and tailer messages as needed for engineers, external partners, and various management levels.
• Experience in driving improvements in processes to reduce cost or improve quality using Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, and other process optimization methods.
• Familiarity with business contracts.
