Role Summary
The main purpose of a Ship Broker is to act as a specialist intermediary/ negotiator between shipowners and charterers to arrange ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea, the employment of a vessel or to buy/sell ships on behalf of a client. We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Trainee Broker to join our Tankers team in our Singapore office. You will work alongside our experienced Brokers to help strengthen relationships with existing clients for sales and help develop new business.
Ideally you will have some broking experience and be keen to develop your experience. You will be driven and self-motivated and be a strong relationship builder.
Fresh university graduates are also welcome to apply for this position.

What you will be doing
Clarksons Research is recruiting for a permanent position in our growing research team based in Singapore. The successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to join a fast-expanding business that offers excellent opportunities for career progression. Primary responsibilities of the role include:

• Conducting quantitative and qualitative research on the maritime and offshore industry, and other related information streams.
• Developing and adding value to our proprietary databases, working to improve the robustness of key data products in shipping and offshore segments.
• Managing data enquiries and related output in an accurate and timely manner for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Contributing and assisting in data projects, synthesising research findings to support key data products, market reports and bespoke client projects.
• Building analytical expertise and technical skills through learning and development opportunities, with a view to developing the capability to take on increased responsibility.

Job Requirement
What we are looking for
Key Attributes

• Fresh graduates with a degree in Business, Economics, Maritime, or related disciplines in a numerate or analytical field are preferred but not essential. Candidates with 1-2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in similar roles through internships or previous full-time employment will also be considered.
• Commercial awareness of the maritime, offshore industries and seaborne-commodity sectors is preferred.
• An advanced knowledge of standard software applications used for data storage, analysis and publishing. This includes Microsoft Office, Powerpoint and Excel.
• Exceptional literacy and analytical skill, with the ability to analyse and present information in a clear and coherent manner.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (English), with additional knowledge of second Asian language being an advantage.
• Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
