Project Title: Early Support for Foundational Skills of Preschool Children at Socio-economic Risk in Singapore [MOE SoL 9/22 BOB]
Project Introduction: This project funded by the MOE Science of Learning (SoL) Programme takes a proof-of-concept approach to develop and trial the efficacy of targeted interventions for preschool children at Nursery 2 in Singapore to build their foundational skills \xe2\x80\x93 both academic and non-academic. A randomized controlled design is applied to gauge intervention efficacy in preschool classrooms. The goal of the research programme is to translate the research findings into packages of professional development and teaching materials for early childhood classrooms. The overarching aim is to improve essential skills for low SES children before they enter kindergarten.
Requirements
CRCD seeks suitable candidates with a doctorate (PhD) in areas such as psychology, cognitive development, developmental science, early childhood education, and related fields. The successful candidate will take a central role in developing and managing the research studies in this funded programme to advance CRCD\xe2\x80\x99s mission to translate research to practice. We welcome candidates with interests in advancing the science of child development to improve care and optimize outcomes. This position requires excellent organizational skills, independence in developing and conducting programmatic research, and a demonstrated record of excellent scientific writing skills.
Essential
- Doctorate degree (PhD) and publication record in psychology, cognitive science, developmental science, early childhood education, or related fields.
- Experience with conducting large-scale longitudinal studies or intervention studies
- Excellent command of the English language, as well as writing and communication skills
- Experience in research administration
- Experience in producing research reports
- Knowledge and experience in social science research methodologies
- Supervisory and leadership skills for research teams
- Interpersonal and coordination skills for liaising with faculty from different disciplines
Preferred
- Experience conducting independent research
- Experience conducting systematic literature reviews
- Experience with software for on-line surveys, visual infographics, statistical analysis
- Experience with educational research and working with schools
