Neste is the number one producer of renewable diesel from waste and residues and aims to maintain this global leadership by further growing the raw material pool and production platforms. To support these ambitious targets we set up an Innovation Centre in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The new APAC Innovation Centre is located in Science Park II in the west part of Singapore. Once operational, the centre will focus on analytical and feedstock research as well as partnerships and opportunities for new innovations in the APAC area. Approximately 40 researchers and other professionals will be hired gradually from 2022 to 2025 to the Innovation centre, which will be fully operational from 2023 onwards.

We are looking for a Researcher with competences in Inorganic Analytics to join our Analytics team in Neste Asia Pacific (APAC) Innovation Centre Singapore.

In your role, you will impact on introducing elemental and inorganic analytics to the APAC Innovation centre, be responsible for analyses of a wide variety of samples, analytical method development and contribute to maintenance of laboratory infrastructure. You will take part in the set up and the development of the analytical laboratory tasks, such as analyser installation, verification/validation and the equipment maintenance and investments.

Your part in Neste journey

In this role, your main responsibilities include

  • impact on introducing analytical laboratory to the APAC Innovation Centre
  • analysing samples of research projects using several techniques, e.g. GC, GC-MS, GCxGC, HPLC, LC-MS, FT-IR
  • evaluating and reporting results, drawing conclusions
  • participating in the method development
  • responsibilities related to the laboratory instruments and laboratory facilities, maintenance and development with other laboratory personnel
You will work in cross-functional teams with other researchers, development engineers and project managers from R&D and stakeholders in e.g. Renewable Products\' supply and production, and also with external partners. Our work combines accountability, cooperation, and the desire to develop and renew. Working safely at all times is essential to all of us. You will report to the R&D Manager, Analytics of APAC Innovation Centre.

Keys to success in this role

The best combination of experiences, skills and background is
  • At least Master\'s degree in analytical or inorganic chemistry (or other similar relevant)
  • Solid experience in inorganic chemistry and inorganic analysis techniques (e.g. ICP-MS/MS, IC, Coulometry, CHN, XRF)
  • Experience in method development and validation
  • Solid knowledge and experience in research and troubleshooting
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Proactivity, can-do attitude and a high motivation to get things done
  • Fluent communication skills in English
  • 2-5 years experience in researcher or scientist position
Organising skills and ability to manage several tasks at the same time

  • Doctoral degree in analytical or inorganic chemistry (or other similar relevant)
  • Interest to grow professionally
  • Broad knowledge in different analytical methods
  • Skills in data-analytics and mining
  • Skills in laboratory automatization
  • Experience in mentoring/teaching
  • Experience in setting up a new laboratory
  • Knowledge in project work
  • Experience/licence in working with flammable materials/hazardous chemicals
