The role

You will be responsible for operational and customer excellence, training and people development, and financial profitability for all Singapore Retail stores. Through an establishment of a positive culture, clear expectations and policy & procedural implementation, the Operations Manager actively engages and collaborates with all stakeholders to develop operational efficiency and scalability. This role will be integral to the success of Love, Bonito especially as we continue to expand our retail reach in Singapore over the next few years. Reporting directly to the Country Director, you will analyse, interpret and report operational business results to ensure that the overall success of all stores is attained.

  • Technical knowledge in all operational aspects of the store, including but not limited to inventory management, sales and cash management, merchandising, roster building, staff training and coaching, stock taking, and recruitment.
Main responsibilities

Team Management & Leadership
  • Meet group and company KPIs by leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of Area Managers Charge to inspire and motivate entire store teams to work towards a collective goal
  • Collaborating closely with the People & Development team, champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment for a robust team of Part- and Full-timers
  • Continuously conduct succession planning for all stores by external hiring, or foster internal career development and growth by building the skills and capabilities of existing team members
  • Through a close partnership with the leadership teams in each store, ensure compliance with the company\'s policies and stance on people and operational guidelines
  • Deal with all issues that arise from staff or customers (complaints, grievances etc). Ensure resolution of escalated complaints and assist in recovery where appropriate
Retail Performance & Operational Excellence
  • Oversee general store administration and ensure compliance with policies and procedures by auditing various operational aspects of the store
  • Proactively monitor store inventory levels and ensure stores are optimising inventory as required. Ensure sound inventory management practices to achieve the highest level of inventory accuracy and manage all Stock Taking exercises at several intervals in the year
  • Set standards and objectives for store teams to ensure a seamless and smooth customer experience; inspire and enable the team to provide a top notch and considerate service to all customers through training and mentoring
  • Conduct manpower resource planning for all stores; manage shift schedules and retail staff budget to achieve optimal staffing levels for excellence in the brand\'s customer experience, according to peak hours, days, and seasonality
  • Undertake full ownership of budget and financial management to ensure stores are profitable and stay within budgets; provide reports and resolutions to ensure an efficient resource usage to increase profitability
  • Maintain knowledge of contracts, partners, budget and licences ensure overall efficiency, negotiating costs and maintaining vendor relationship whenever necessary
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop strategies to enhance the store customer experience and drive sales performance to achieve forecasted sales and performance growth of the business
  • Maintain a good portfolio of store leases by examining & negotiating all current and future rental structures and lease conditions. Collaborate with Finance and the Store Expansion teams to expand the Love, Bonito Singapore Retail footprint
  • Establish and maintain good landlord-tenant relationships in all current leases
  • Assist in the preparation, presentation and subsequent achievement of Retail\'s P&L
[HQ] Collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional HQ team PICs for the brainstorming of campaigns, events, and store openings. Guide and lead the team closely for the successful execution of all activations.
  • Together with Global Retail Operations, identify business opportunities and actively engage in anticipating business impact or roll out plans; provide input in developing effective and scalable solutions to improve operational productivity and efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with Retail Design team to develop our new operational flows and store typologies for Retail
  • Maintain outstanding store conditions and work closely with the Visual Merchandising team to optimize layout and displays in-store; support brand and visual campaigns of new tacticals and launches, and develop strategies to enhance future sales.
  • Report to senior management on progress and issues by constantly evaluating performance using key metrics and address issues to improve it

Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the retail industry, preferably in fast fashion
  • Proven track record & experience in managing retail team in the capacity of an Area Manager
  • Numerate and tech-savvy
  • Experience interfacing with other HQ functional pillars (Marketing, Operations, Merchandising, HR, etc), with a demonstrated ability to problem solve for complex issues & the unknown
  • Able to work with a schedule that reflects the business levels and needs of the store
