Work you will do

The Revenue Management Manager is responsible for the line management of the project controlling activity nationally and ensures that project control function processes and tools are updated and maintained according to best practice. The Manager also takes a lead role in being the champion for engagement management best practice across Consulting nationally and provides training and support to the broader Manager and Director role.

After a period of 'bedding down' of the project controlling activity, it is expected that the Manager may also work on large programs of work as a project manager.

Project Controlling activity relate to project support on large projects and serve as a focal point for financial management control. The role of this project controlling activity also provides engagement management knowledge for the project management teams by assisting with initiating and controlling organization of the projects. Their greatest value, however, is in the understanding and application of financial management processes both to individual projects and client accounts.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage the career plans, goal setting and performance of teams members involved in this project controlling activity
  • Hire and train all new team members on project controlling activities
  • Provide guidance to the team members when they begin a new piece of work by reviewing the contract and identifying major risks or areas of complexity to be managed.
  • Review and provide QA of the team's work on a regular basis, to ensure the integrity of the work outputs on major projects.
  • Develop and update standardized tool for project controlling activities
  • Develop and roll out a 'basic' engagement tool for the Consulting Manager and Director community.
  • Run frequent training sessions for the Manager and Director community on correct use of tools required to perform the project controlling activities, and more broadly on engagement financial management fundamentals.
  • Builds the profile of the team to be recognized by the practice as the experts in engagement financial management
  • Develops a 'Project Controlling activity handbook' to clearly define the processes and tools to be used by the team
  • Builds a relationship with Consulting QRM and Finance to ensure tools and processes are consistent with their requirements and best practice.
  • Working closely with project teams on complex engagements

Enough about us, let's talk about you

If you are someone with:
  • Ideally you have a degree or certificate in Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a financial analysis, project financial management or project controlling activity role. You have experience in summarizing results and producing management reports.
  • You should be competent across the Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills. You have strong oral and written skills, are able to work effectively independently as well as part of a team and are able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with a variety of contracting types (e.g., time and materials, fixed price) and billing scenarios, and/or experience in a client service environment; consulting experience is a plus.
  • Possess personal attributes such as maturity, excellent interpersonal skills, professional integrity, and initiative.
