Around 1,600 employees from 40 countries trade electricity, gas, commodities and CO2 emission certificates. The trading company is also responsible for commercial asset optimisation at RWE, operates natural gas storage facilities and markets green electricity produced by RWE Renewables. In addition to physical and derivative commodities, the trading portfolio comprises emissions certificates, freight, weather derivatives and biomass. RWEST offers major industrial companies and trading partners trading-based portfolio management, long-term supply concepts and risk management solutions. Asia is one of the strategic growth areas of RWEST and over the past couple of years, RWEST's presence in Asia has rapidly expanded with subsidiaries in 5 Asian countries (Singapore, China, Japan, India, and Indonesia) and is trading in the international markets as well as in these Asian domestic markets. This opportunity is ideal for a finance professional who is looking for a challenge in a dynamic global trading environment while getting the unique opportunity to develop a profound understanding of the global energy markets, the related end-to-end accounting and corresponding reporting cycle. The position encompasses close collaboration with multiple functions across Asia and Europe. Your future plans . Support the team on regulatory, management and tax reporting as well as compliance, banking, cash management, audit, and ad-hoc matters . Prepare and review accounting bookings in compliance with Singapore FRS, IFRS, and company law . Play a leading role in managing the daily preparation of accounts and tax returns collaboratively (with offshore teams) . Ensure integrity of financials by reviewing control environment and documentation as well as performing balance sheet substantiation . Manage the relationship with external auditors and tax consultants ensuring relevant information is obtained seamlessly from various stakeholders across the business . Review and challenge all aspects of financial reporting and other tasks performed by offshore teams . Prepare ad-hoc management reports and provide technical expertise when demanded . Identify and implement improvements to the reporting process . Cover for team during absences and support the Board of Directors and the Regional CFO as required Your powerful skills . A technical qualified accountant with a recognised degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and 5 to 7 years of industry experience . Strong knowledge of domestic (Singapore FRS) and international (IFRS) financial reporting standards complemented with a deep understanding of P&L and balance sheet drivers . Experience in a commodity trading or financial service environment preferred and fundamental know-how in commodity accounting, financial instruments and SAP advantageous . Desire to continuously improve and challenge the status quo . Good communication and relationship management skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at varied levels . Good analysis and decision-making skills, deliver solutions to meet customer needs . Enthusiastic team player with interpersonal skills and intercultural competence . Basic knowledge of day-to-day direct as well as indirect tax topics and compliance required (e.g. withholding tax, GST, corporate income tax) . Proficiency in Microsoft Office including advanced Excel skills . Fluent in English with additional Asian languages advantageous Benefits you can rely on .
