About the Unit

Region Africa and Asia produces, sells, distributes, and markets fertilizers and industrial products across Asia Pacific and Africa region with offices location and operational units in 19 countries in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. We sell a broad range of quality products to all segments in agriculture, produce and sale ammonia and TAN from our Australian unit mainly to industrial customers, reaching a total volume of 6 million tons per year. The region employs 1600 employees across the 19 countries. Yara has a long history in the Asian Pacific and African markets, and our focus is to develop the Yara Crop Nutrition concepts to increase food production, create value to the growers and minimize the environmental impact of agriculture.

Responsibilities

The role of the senior accountant is responsible for managing and reporting of financial information in the company. It is a dynamic role with a multitude of responsibility including ensuring timely, accurate month end closing and financial reporting to the management. * Responsible for the integrity of accounting data in ERP system by verification in the system.

• Ensuring month end closing activities are completed on time including Group HFM reporting and perform inventory elimination consolidation adjustment.
• Check and communicate transfer pricing of products to inter companies in the region. Ensure prices are within transfer pricing benchmark.
• Work closely with internal key stakeholders such digital business unit and serve as a key business partner.
• Coordinate with Vendor Ops team to ensure all invoices are taken up timely and accruals made for unbilled invoices which services had been performed.
• Support and ensure compliance with all statutory filing requirements such as tax filing requirements (GST/WHT/CIT) and audit procedures.
• Coordinate and execute continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency of work process.
• Support ad-hoc requests from management.

• Diploma/Degree in Accountancy.
• 6years professional experience in financial accounting, focus on accounting & reporting (internal/external)
• Experience in a fast-growing distribution environment or digital business company
• Team player and committed to foster collaboration as well as constant functional knowledge sharing.
• Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with internal/external business partners.
• SAP Experience preferred.
• Well versed in MS office, especially MS Excel, PowerPoint and Words.
• High workload and tight deadlines to meet for month end reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to explain accounting concepts in simple terms.
• Good problem solving and negotiation skills.

• Informal mentoring of the junior team members such as Asst Accountants and Accounts Exec.
• Self-directed and the ability to make independent decisions.
• Ability to work effectively independently in ambiguous situation.
• Good level of Influencing and Persuasion skills required with different stakeholders.
• Gives direct constructive feedback to improve finance process.
• Takes on challenging assignments to pursue personal growth.

• Queries from cost centre owner regarding costs incurred under the units cost centres.
• Demonstrate good logical thinking skill while resolving issues.
• Demonstrate curiosity and passion while helping others.
• Ability to work independently especially in ambiguous situation.
• Propose resolution and resolve complex accounting questions (eg Auditors or Tax Authority of Singapore) and ERP issues which requires analytical thinking with guidance can be found from Yara Steering system.
