Position objectives and position summaryThis is a hands-on role, and the primary responsibilities of this role are:
To ensure the quarterly and annual closing process of the general ledger for the Singapore and Labuan branch are completed accurately on a timely basis.
To prepare the quarterly & annual (1) regulatory and statutory reports for submission to MAS, (2) GST reports for submission to IRAS, and demonstrate understanding of drivers of the results.
To be the point of contact to manage the requests of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. actuarial, tax, operations, external auditors, regulators etc.), and address them on a timely basis.
You will also support our Tax team with the preparation of data as part of the annual Corporate Tax reporting process. This role will require you to be work closely with departments and functions within and outside of the Singapore branch.Key Responsibilities
The role will require you to have a strong understanding of accounting principles, good understanding of the systems used for reporting, and your involvement to perform reconciliations and calculations, as well as work with our Offshore Finance team to pass manual adjustment bookings as part of the general ledger closing process.
Be responsible for the preparation of the Quarterly and Annual regulatory MAS/LFSA submissions, financial statement preparation on IFRS 17 basis for both Singapore and Labuan branches, ensuring that they are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis, and demonstrate understanding of drivers of the results.
Be responsible for the preparation of the Quarterly GST report for submission to IRAS, ensuring that they are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
Support our Tax team with the preparation of data for the annual Corporate Tax reporting.
Be the point of contact to manage the requests of internal and external stakeholders (e.g. actuarial, tax, operations, external auditors, regulators etc.), and address them on a timely basis.
Be responsible to maintain the documentation of Finance controls and processes, pro-actively challenge "as-is" positions and processes within Finance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Pro-actively provide Finance input into other processes which have impact on financial reporting, challenging existing \'as-is\' positions and highlighting opportunities for improvement.
Job requirementsThis will include essential and desired academic and/or professional qualifications required and provide details of likely experience the successful candidate might have.Educational background
University degree (Accounting or Finance)
Post degree qualification (CA or CPA) preferable
Professional experience
At least 7 years\' relevant work experience in a re/insurance company
Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles
Some MAS regulatory reporting experience in a re/insurance company would be preferable
Experience with Excel at an Intermediate to Advanced level: Knowledge of Excel functions and formulas (e.g. Vlookup/HLookup/IndexMatch), with proven experience understanding how Excel functions "think" or "behave", demonstrating depth of spreadsheet knowledge, and applying that knowledge to achieve efficiency in real-world usage
Proven experience working with underwriting and claims systems, and understanding how they interact with Finance systems
Proven ability to work and communicate in a multicultural organization in a matrix environment
Experience with SAP would be an advantage
Excellent command of the English language
