Provide advice and counsel on a range of employment and HR legal matters and regulatory compliance matters that arise in all global regions where Red Hat conducts business
Assess and document local best practices for investigations, complaints, and grievances; maintain storage of and access to this information for internal users
Devise strategy for and manage employment-related pre-litigation and litigation matters in all global regions, and partner with local counsel, when necessary, to ensure that Red Hat's interests are adequately protected
Partner with the People (HR) team, internal investigations teams, and external counsel (when necessary) to conduct investigations into allegations of associate misconduct and to make recommendations for conclusion and course of action, while ensuring that investigations and disciplinary processes are handled in a fair and timely manner, properly documented, and conducted consistently with local requirements and Red Hat practice
Engage and manage the work of outside counsel, including counsel outside the U.S. and maintain appropriate investigation data and documentation
Develop and provide guidance to HR partners and managers regarding sensitive employee relations issues, investigations, and managing performance while mitigating risk
What you will bring
Juris Doctor degree (JD) and admission to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
5+ years of employment law and investigations experience, gained as a law firm attorney, in-house counsel, or a combination of both
Fluent written and verbal English
Experience advising on global employee relations matters
Ability to establish cross-functional relationships at all levels and across global regions
Detail-oriented, with solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and analyze data
Proactive approach to recognizing business needs and anticipating issues
Ability to thoughtfully and thoroughly examine issues and situations, with exceptional sense of judgment in determining appropriate steps and actions with respect to employment matters
Solid collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with sound judgment and ability to influence and work with others in a growing, global business
Proven project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage global projects
Ability to fulfill responsibilities with discretion, when necessary, and to comply with confidentiality obligations imposed by local law and Red Hat policy
Ability to persuade and work collaboratively with global team members across multiple functions and time zones
Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize shifting demands
Dedication to fostering an inclusive culture and value diverse perspectives
The following are considered a plus:
Employment litigation experience
Ability to communicate effectively in a business environment in multiple languages
Fluency in a second language
Understanding of the corporate environment and an interest in global employment law and compliance requirements for a fast-paced, rapidly growing, global technology company
