Candidate Specification

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline related to ecology/biology biodiversity, environment, or social sciences (Masters or post-grad qualifications highly desirable).
  • 6-8 years' experience working as an environmental and/or social practitioner/consultant carrying out environmental and social impact assessments, due diligence reviews and/or preparing management plans.
  • Excellent English language skills (spoken and written) and at least one regional southeast Asian language.
  • Experience working with international social frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards, ADB Safeguards, or World Bank Environmental and Social Framework.
Demonstrate familiarity, skills, knowledge, or experience in any of the following areas:
  • Biodiversity assessments, including IBAT screening assessments, based on national and international standards including IFC PS6.
  • Environmental impact assessments including baseline studies, impact assessments, and/or environmental modelling.
  • Social baseline studies, impact assessment, and preparation of social development, resettlement, and/or indigenous people plans.
Use of ArcGIS software to generate drawings, layouts, maps, and graphics using to support environmental and biodiversity assessments, or other relevant digital tools.



We are looking for a biodiversity specialist with 6-8 years relevant experience within a consultancy background to join our team based in either Singapore or Jakarta.

You'll be part of a team that has a track record of successfully undertaking environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) and due diligence of renewable energy and other critical infrastructure projects. We enable our clients to secure financing through timely delivery of comprehensive ESIAs, meeting the needs of a variety of financing institutions within the context of international environmental and social performance standards or safeguards. We also support investors in assessing projects and assist in their decision-making processes resulting in responsible investment.

Job Profile
  • Focusing on biodiversity as technical expertise to support team on biodiversity study and assessment based on national standard and international standard including IFC PS6 and IFC GN6.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge on critical habitat assessments and biodiversity offsets management is a plus.
  • Ability to conduct remote sensing analysis for environmental analysis needs especially on biodiversity component is a plus.
  • Generation and management of spatial data ensuring that information management and quality assurance procedures are followed.
  • Seek to grow and diversify the ecology skills within the team through sharing project experience, mentoring and training of junior staff.
  • Assist with proposal development related to biodiversity services.
  • Field survey experience - planning, mobilising and managing health and safety risks.
  • Manage projects including preparation of project work plans, schedules, budgets, the management of all technical activities and people coordination.
  • Contribute to biodiversity, environmental and social studies, analysis and reporting related to environment projects.
  • Conduct field surveys, sampling activities, supervise sub-contractors, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure compliance of project activities with national environmental regulations and international E&S standards.
  • Enhance your relationship management skills by working collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure that biodiversity and, environmental considerations are taken into account.
  • Think and work globally in partnership with E&S teams across Mott MacDonald.
