We at The Adecco Group are currently offering an exciting opportunity to join our Legal & Compliance team as a Senior Counsel, Legal & Compliance (Asia) with direct reporting to L&C Director, Asia. We would like to invite applicants from Singapore, Taiwan & Hong Kong. Please note: This opportunity is with us and not for any client. Function: Regional Counsel, Legal & Compliance (Asia) Location: Singapore/Taiwan/Hong Kong Mission:

  • Responsible to provide value-adding legal advice and counseling to country management and colleagues.
  • Responsible to successfully implement the Regional Legal & Compliance strategy within the Asia region and achieve the relevant KPIs.
  • Responsible to ensure high compliance standards and risk mitigation mechanisms within the Asia region.
Responsibilities:
  • Deal with a large number and variety of legal matters in a hands-on, pragmatic and efficient approach
  • Implement and execute Regional Legal & Compliance strategy
  • Provide quality and timely business strategic partnership for Asia region countries
  • Effective review of and sound advice on legal contract reviews across several portfolios and countries. Required to communicate, review and draft contracts and other documents in English on a day-to-day basis. May be required to review Chinese (Traditional) language documents and/or work with colleagues.
  • Assist and develop the country Compliance practice including, education & awareness (training) and monitoring & enforcement
  • Support and partner with local teams on legal & compliance matters and advisory (including legal updates, business initiatives), ensuring excellence in service and value-adding advice
  • Manage and advise on corporate law/secretary matters, restructurings, IT purchasing initiatives and data protection compliance, commercial contracts (staffing, perm, outsourcing, etc.) and competition law, litigation and dispute resolution, crisis management, employment, etc.
  • Manage insurance and other risk mitigation mechanisms
  • Review and implement Company policies and procedures focusing on risk mitigation
  • Search for and implemented legal solutions (including digital) to support legal & compliance processes
  • Supplement in-house legal work with carefully selected outside legal counsel, direct and monitor their activities in a cost-efficient way
  • Stay informed of and anticipate regulatory developments in all relevant areas of law, and advise management appropriately, designing effective implementations
  • Report to and maintain communication channel with Regional Legal & Compliance (QLR, etc.)
  • Ensure implementation and execution of Group policies
  • Collaborate with other legal colleagues in the countries and region
  • Carry out thought leadership initiatives to promote the function internally and externally.
Work Experience / Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of combined experience in business law with a broad range of expertise, preferably including but not limited to: M&A, data protection, commercial contracts and employment law.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as in-house counsel, preferably in a multinational and/or publicly listed company.
  • Experience in a top international or local law firm preferred.
  • Strong experience and track-record in contract review, managing and improving contract processes and quality of contract reviews, and legal compliance
  • Team management experience preferred.
Education:
  • Full legal qualification (degree in Law)
  • International Master of Laws (LLM) or international education - preferable
