The business is focusing their efforts to grow their privacy and cybersecurity legal team globally and there is now a need to hire a senior counsel to join this dynamic and growing team. The role will report directly to the supervising counsel that manages the privacy and cybersecurity team globally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day to day legal advice with primary focus on the Asia-Pacific region, secondary focus on Middle East, Asia, South Asia regions and rest of the world (excluding the United States) on all aspects of data privacy compliance.
• Research and maintain current knowledge of applicable foreign (GDPR, LGPD, PIPL, PDPA, etc.), for the markets under your charge.
• Work closely with the Global Data Privacy Manager to develop data-privacy and network-security policies and compliance standards and support the maintenance of the enterprise data privacy program.
• Monitor advancements in data privacy and network security technology. Work to ensure organizational compliance with applicable laws and regulations in light of technical developments.
• Provide legal advice on issues related to other information technology initiatives, including implementation of cloud-software and network-security initiatives.
• Provide legal advice regarding online privacy rules, including special notice, consent, and opt-out rules for websites, workforce and consumer apps, and email marketing activities.
• Advise on appropriate data protection terms for vendors, supplier, customer, and employee agreements and provide transactional support in negotiation and drafting company contracts and agreements, as necessary.
• Support critical incident management processes in addressing suspected or actual data privacy and security incidents and handle legal aspects of compliance with foreign and domestic laws regarding data breaches.
• Provide advice on responding to requests for information from data-protection authorities and data subjects regarding the company\'s handling of personal data and compliance with data-protection laws.
• Develop and deliver data privacy training to company personnel.
• Work with internal audit resources to develop and implement internal audits of company compliance with data privacy laws, regulations, and policies.

• Licensed to practice law in a major international market.
• Minimum of 6 years\' experience in international, federal, and state legal/regulatory aspects of data privacy and network security.
• Familiarity with data privacy and network security concepts, technologies, and practices.
• Transactional experience in negotiating and drafting contracts.
• Demonstrated experience advising clients in business, corporate, and transactional matters.
• Proven client counselling skills in providing pragmatic day-to-day advice; informing clients of important legal developments, and warning clients of potential legal risks.
• Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations in other legal compliance areas; knowledgeable about effective compliance programs.
• Certified Information Privacy Professional desired (prefer CIPP/E).
• Some 25% travel required.
