A day in the Life Singapore R&D team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Optical System Design Engineer to work in collaboration with engineers, scientists, and business professionals to develop new instruments, applications, and reagents for the Genetic Sciences Division. As a member of multi-functional project teams, together we will develop and deliver instrument and consumable platforms from feasibility through on-market customer care. This role will experience products from many fields, such as qPCR, digital PCR, western blot imaging and many other advance instrumentation. You will work with multi-functions project team in the creative conceptualizing and development of sophisticated optical system that includes illumination, imaging and fluorescence detection. Other involvement include: An eye for details in qualify key optical components such as light source, optical filters, lens and camera etc. Conceived and implement optical system integration tests that verify optics related specifications and validate application requirements Demonstrate your creativity and investigate new concept and technology Support and improve on-market instrument platforms Drive design excellence through mathematical models and simulations Domain authority of the optics' system for less complicated project. How will you get here Qualification Degree in Optics or Photonics or Engineering Science. Advanced degree is a plus Experiences Proven track record to take ownership of responsibilities, overcome obstacles, deliver on commitments, and delight the customer Demonstrated ability to work and develop complex optical system related instrument Experience in system integration of optical and optoelectronic component and device Simulation or mathematical modeling in illumination and imaging Experienced in working in a multi-functional team Experience in commercial product development, including design, purchasing, prototyping, solving, documentation, testing, compliance, and transfer to manufacturing Competencies Preferred Strong curiosity about Optics, Physics and Statistics Knowledge in geometrical optics, physical optics and photonics Craft and develop optical component and system Optical modeling and simulation using software e.g. ZEMAX for sequential and non-sequential simulation Image processing using MATLAB or ImageJ Mechanical and / or electrical knowledge and experience Great teammate and confident to be the domain expert within the project team setting Able and willing to mentor junior engineers Visit our and join our for an exciting career opportunities within Thermo Fisher.
