Provide instrumentation setup and calibration support for batch and continuous production modules in the Pilot Plant. Ensure plant instruments are maintained and calibrated on time. Ensure availability of critical spares. Liaise with vendors for calibration tasks which require external resource. In addition to routine maintenance work, candidate shall work alongside with operation technicians and support the shift team with troubleshooting and repair of instruments. As instrumentation expert, provide guidance to Process and Project Engineers on instrumentation design, and assist in testing and commissioning of new equipment/instruments. Lead improvement projects related to instrumentation and controls. Candidate will be empowered to work on assigned tasks and projects, delivering positive and long-lasting impact to the department. Maintenance

  • Responsible for trouble shooting and repairing all instruments and equipment in the Pilot Plant during an allocated shift.
  • Decide on the trouble shooting approach to be taken and determine whether external resources (i.e. mechanical, instrument, automation or electrical) are required.
  • Coordinate external resources, to trouble shoot and repair equipment and instruments in the shortest time possible.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and compliant manner


Product Turnarounds and Capital Projects

  • Calibrate and set-up instruments prior to new product campaigns.
  • For new capability projects, provide guidance in instrumentation design, and assist in testing and commissioning of new equipment/instruments
  • Supervise external resources in carry out implementation tasks for projects related to instrumentation and controls


Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Ensure the cost effectiveness of all maintenance jobs by initiating and implementing Lean Sigma activities focusing on instrument reliability and maintenance standardisation.
  • Provide timely technical advice to other functions within the department to assist in continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Process Control Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, Material or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in field instrument calibration and maintenance in Process, Pharmaceutical, Chemical or Food industry
  • Must possess excellent analytical problem solving skills and persistence to resolve outstanding issues
  • Must possess the ability to work independently and deliver improvement projects/tasks on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of Standard Engineering Practice, cGMP guide, Data Integrity requirements and maintenance standards.
  • Basic Microsoft office skills and Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP system)
  • Basic process safety knowledge
  • Team orientated with effective communication skills
