Job Description


Role Summary We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to help manage all legal issues and support the business on a variety of legal matters across APAC. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Head of Legal EMEA and Asia, this is a senior hire for the global legal team and the first hire for the team in Singapore. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the continuing development of this highly successful multi-product business. The successful candidate will partner with all teams across the business on day-to-day legal matters and strategic projects. He or she will be expected to deliver timely and quality legal services to internal clients with minimal supervision. General Duties


  • Support all legal issues that arise in APAC.
  • Work closely with internal teams and management in structuring and implementing strategic projects.
  • Provide legal advice on new business ventures, product development and product launches.
  • Negotiate, draft and review a broad range of commercial contracts, customer agreements, service agreements and any other contractual documentation.
  • Support the group’s M&A activities across APAC.
  • Manage disputes and contentious matters, including litigation.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare briefing papers for internal teams.
  • Develop and administer internal processes to assist the business.
  • Prepare business policies and provide training on legal matters.
  • Advise on miscellaneous employment and HR issues.
  • Undertake corporate governance work for StoneX’s APAC companies.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience of working for a (preferably global) financial services business.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable financial services regulations, together with commercial and corporate law, data privacy and corporate governance.
  • Extensive experience in providing consistent, clear and audience-tailored risk-based advice.
  • Experience of developing and improving corporate governance in financial services businesses.
  • Strong commercial contracts experience is essential, together with a genuine interest to expand knowledge and experience in employment and litigation matters.
  • Previous in-house experience preferred.

Qualifications



  • Current practicing certificate in Singapore, in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Team player but with the ability to work autonomously.
