What will you do? As the Sr Manager, APAC Procurement, this position will lead a Category team responsible for strategic sourcing activities and supplier management functions. This position requires the individual to have the relevant Category management experience, create robust APAC sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements, supplier relationship management and drive continuous improvement in year over year savings. Good manufacturing knowledge in Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, and associated cost drivers. Responsibilities include collaborating with multiple Thermo Fisher functions and our external suppliers to influence and lead change, fostering relationships, managing assertively and with integrity, and removing roadblocks to enable results for the company. The ability to being Agile and work at a fast pace is required. Excellent communication skills, cross functional collaboration to drive shift execution and able to focus on prioritization is critical for success. The successful Sr. Manager will balance leading people and managing specific Categories; will draw on a diverse set of skills such as people management, influence & convince, project management, industry supply base knowledge and business insight.

  • People Management- Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams and competent in managing a cross cultured and/or virtual teams. Great teammate and team builder. Collaborates with key partners to understand business priorities and drive key improvement metrics. Demonstrates a measurable reduction in year over year total cost of ownership for products being sourced without compromising on quality & service levels.
  • Leadership- Thrives in a dynamic work environment; has \xe2\x80\x98can-do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude. Challenges the status quo and perpetually seeks process improvements. Strong commercial savvy and data presentation skills with an ability to influence and persuade partners. Create and maintain a communication mechanism to ensure coordination and collaboration with internal colleagues and reporting of sourcing impact. Mentors and develops team through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvement.
  • Technical- Develops Supplier sourcing strategy to meet Cost, Quality, Technology & Delivery on assigned Categories. Strong sense and experienced in cost saving methodologies including value engineering, cost benchmarking, and negotiation. Develops & collaborates with Distributed team on APAC Category strategy. Drives supplier consolidation through engaging and collaboration with key internal partners and relevant Thermo Fisher business divisions to qualify preferred suppliers and mitigate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliers, Establishes and maintains rapport with critical suppliers to assure a high level of focus on total quality and cost effectiveness. Actively participates in supplier business reviews with suppliers to ensure both parties meet obligation under the terms of agreement, including performance standards and continuous improvement goals.
How will you get here?
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree (Engineering a plus) required. Graduate Degree in Business (Preferred), Finance and or Technical field.
  • Minimum 10 years of Procurement/Sourcing experience with increasing responsibility and experience in a large matrixed company environment. Minimum 7 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in the assigned Category.
  • Minimum 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience leading and managing procurement teams with a focus on mentoring, coaching and performance management.
  • Strong leadership and effective business partnering capabilities. Influencing and change management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a complex organization.
  • Strong negotiation and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the strategic sourcing and category management process.
  • Ability to inspire teamwork and to effectively lead others.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). Ability to communicate across all levels internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated leadership, customer oriented, proactive and results focused.
  • Requires ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information.
