Job Description


Purpose of Job: The incumbent will be responsible to develop effective messaging and communication strategies for external and internal communication plans to enhance IRD\xe2\x80\x99s brand image in support of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s global and country-level operations. This includes media relations, engagement, and employee communications while ensuring consistency and brand integrity. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Supervise all forms of communication, such as press statements, newsletters, websites, social media presence, crisis communications, fundraisers/events, panel discussions, and public interviews.
  • Develop and manage strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to provide high-quality communications that drive external brand awareness.
  • Represent the organisation at media events and direct marketing and public relations campaigns within the IRD network to increase thought leadership and showcase IRD\xe2\x80\x99s work.
  • Leading the communications team, overseeing long-term direction and near-term execution of corporate public relations efforts.
  • Manage PR agencies to build and maintain relationships with media, draft responses, organize events, and place content.
  • Produce engaging content to highlight different projects and departments within the IRD network.
  • Provide messaging and strategic counsel to internal stakeholders during crisis communications.
  • Manage presence at industry events, and conferences showcasing IRD\xe2\x80\x99s unique and dynamic portfolio to maintain brand integrity.
  • Ensure the development and protection of the the organization\xe2\x80\x99s reputation, and consistency in messaging across all platforms.
  • Track engagement across various platforms and make data-driven decisions.
  • Analyze communications performance, and generate routine reports on status and improvements
  • Undertake any additional duties as assigned, in addition to the responsibilities outlined above, to ensure effective communication and promotion of IRD\'s brand.
Principle Challenges:
  • Travel to different IRD affiliates to support the communication needs needs as required.
  • Managing a diverse team in different countries.
  • Focusing on IRD branding across the network, overcoming language barriers and cultural differences
  • Demonstrate crisis management skills to effectively navigate potential issues or challenges.
Requirements:
  • Master\'s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or another related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in communications, including media relations, digital communications, corporate communication, and stakeholder engagements, in international and well reputed organizations.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a diversified team.
  • Highly self-motivated, with the ability to learn quickly and quick to adapt and take initiative.
  • Exceptional writing skills to create content in various styles (press releases, bylines, social media, internal stories).
  • Proficient in written and spoken fluency in English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, and strong problem solving skills.
  • Possesses an elevated level of curiosity and and ability to think independently.
  • Good listener and maintains accountability for their actions.
  • Ability to work independently under tight timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in inclusive planning and participatory management, with excellent analysis and report-writing skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to lead, develop, supervise a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and collaborate with other teams within the organization. Possesses a humble, collaborative, can-do attitude.
  • Professional, with high integrity and a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills \xe2\x80\x93 comfortably navigating a complex matrix organisation and able to collaborate effectively and respectfully with stakeholders from different management levels, geographies, and cultures..
  • Possesses overall knowledge of various media platforms.
  • Excellent political awareness and cultural sensitivity.
  • Self-driven with a solution-oriented approach.
